  • At the risk of sounding old, I just want to say, shoutout to my fellow Gen X'ers!  We truly are the privileged little generation with one firm nostalgic foot in our childhood of analog, and the other, endangered species dinosaur foot in the digital world of today.  If the words "Oregon trail" mean to you what they mean to me, you probably also fondly remember AOL and the dialup sound, but also how life was before the Internet was a thing.  It's these fond memories of life before the technology boom that firmly root me in the reality of today's world.  It's also these same simple times of life that we often take for granted or don't even know we're missing.  The high value in apprenticeships and specialized knowledge, the ability to have meaningful, more lasting relationships, the more organized and focused brain due to not being inundated with information at the speed of light...these elements of life are aspects that anyone younger than our generation may have a more difficult time experiencing.  What a positive thing to once again, temporarily, have the chance to slow things down and show the young'uns' how we used to roll back in the day!  So many lost artforms that we now have the time to revisit!  Just because our lives as we know them are currently on hold, it doesn't mean they have to lack joy!  There is positive in everything negative. ☯️

There are a lot of students without excellent academic instruction right now.  Seniors headed to college need to be ready for the workload ahead of them. Even moreso, high schoolers need a SOLID foundation in algebra and algebra 2 for the upcoming fall.  We are going live on Mondays and Tuesdays at 4pm with dope math instruction. Instructors who have graduated from UCLA and Harvard will be teaching for FREE. Pass the word on to parents and students.

  • A FULL BODY HIIT WORKOUT coming at you hot and fresh from the oven. It was beautiful and sunny and temps got to 64F so it was a perfect one to do on the deck. If you don't have a bosu, a stool or stepper would work. For the kettle bell swings I prefer a kettle bell, but I don't have one yet so a dumbbell works in a pinch. For the battle ropes, actual battle ropes would be better but I made it work with small dumbbells. Do each move for 30 sec with a 30 sec rest if you are a beginner or just feel like you need it. If you have it in you, push yourself and do each for 45 sec with a 15 sec rest. I use a HIIT or Tabata timer app (plenty of free ones out there) on my phone set to the intervals. The whole circuit should take 8 minutes this way, then take a minute or two break and repeat one or two more times, depending on your endurance and fitness.

Estou no Cursinho desde 2015, provavelmente sou o último dessa primeira safra que ainda está diretamente ligado ao coletivo. Vi nascer o #TRANSarau e chegay a apresentar alguns haha.

Ajudei a escrever o primeiro edital que desembocou na #AntologiaTRANS e estava lá na produção da mítica #TRANSarrada. Nesse tempo tanta coisa aconteceu e me aconteceu. Lembro-me que uma das coisas que aprendi foi que não era apenas entender o que era ser #trans e como ajudar, mas que eu tinha que me entender, o que é ser #cis? Isso tem me feito bem.

Minhas aulas são um momento de descontração e salvação pra mim, minha mente flui com leveza e humor. É incrível poder dar aula falando #pajuba, palavrão e dar muita risada.

Como professor de humanas, penso (pensamos no Círculo de Humanidades) a relação entre o conteúdo e o ser lgbtqia+ sempre que possível. Gosto muito do uso de imagens em sala e de indicar cultura pop e erudita simultaneamente, para estudo em casa: séries, filmes, quadrinhos, desenhos, mangás.

Dou aula de História e Filosofia e o que fazemos no Circulo de Humanidade é #descolonizar o modo como os temas têm sido historicamente apresentados. Incluímos temas marginais como Histórias das #áfricas #américalatina #mulheres e #LGBTQIA e temas que jugamos importantes como Direitos Humanos, imigração, anarquismo, racismo (pelo menos nesse último caso eu me incluo haha). Gosto muito de uma aula que dei revisando a Filosofia e pude ir mostrando a história lgbtqia através da arte de cada época, provas materiais de que sempre existimos e que não somos modinha.

Aprendo muito sendo educador nesta construção coletivo-afetuosa que é o cursinho. O mundo só muda quando todas as pessoas têm seus direitos garantidos, e nessa toada vamos construindo outros mundos possíveis.

    Ajudei a escrever o primeiro edital que desembocou na #AntologiaTRANS e estava lá na produção da mítica #TRANSarrada. Nesse tempo tanta coisa aconteceu e me aconteceu. Lembro-me que uma das coisas que aprendi foi que não era apenas entender o que era ser #trans e como ajudar, mas que eu tinha que me entender, o que é ser #cis? Isso tem me feito bem.

    Minhas aulas são um momento de descontração e salvação pra mim, minha mente flui com leveza e humor. É incrível poder dar aula falando #pajuba, palavrão e dar muita risada.

    Como professor de humanas, penso (pensamos no Círculo de Humanidades) a relação entre o conteúdo e o ser lgbtqia+ sempre que possível. Gosto muito do uso de imagens em sala e de indicar cultura pop e erudita simultaneamente, para estudo em casa: séries, filmes, quadrinhos, desenhos, mangás.

    Dou aula de História e Filosofia e o que fazemos no Circulo de Humanidade é #descolonizar o modo como os temas têm sido historicamente apresentados. Incluímos temas marginais como Histórias das #áfricas #américalatina #mulheres e #LGBTQIA e temas que jugamos importantes como Direitos Humanos, imigração, anarquismo, racismo (pelo menos nesse último caso eu me incluo haha). Gosto muito de uma aula que dei revisando a Filosofia e pude ir mostrando a história lgbtqia através da arte de cada época, provas materiais de que sempre existimos e que não somos modinha.

    Aprendo muito sendo educador nesta construção coletivo-afetuosa que é o cursinho. O mundo só muda quando todas as pessoas têm seus direitos garantidos, e nessa toada vamos construindo outros mundos possíveis.

Although we are slowly getting to a comfortable place, I’m still trying to put the pieces back together in my yoga practice. It’s not the same but I’m trying. And that’s all any of us can do at this point. Keep your leg high and your negativity low, y’all. 🖤

  • OVERCOMING NUTRITION CHALLENGES DURING UNCERTAIN TIMES...🥑🌽🍓
We're all struggling, maybe some more than others... so here are some guidelines to maybe help ya in these uncertain or scary times!
1.Pay attention to what you're eating: Invest some time and energy into tracking your current eating habits...download an app like My Fitness Pal or Cronomater and track your food. There's no better time to start understanding whats going into your body than right now!
2. Fuel your body: a) Eat enough protein. A good starting point, aim for your body weight (in pounds) in grams of protein/day. Ex: 160lb person should start at approx 160g protein/day. Divide this number by amount of meals you're eating/day to hit your targets. 
b)Eat 2-3 different colours of fruit and veggies/day. Getting a large variety helps to get your micronutrient requirements! Will also make sure you're keeping your immune system strong.💪
3. Be mindful of what yummy treats you're keeping in the house: Hyper-palatable foods (aka yummy foods) are going to be easy to overeat. Act accordingly. If you're struggling to get calories in (low appetite) incorporate more packaged, higher calorie foods (protein bars, rice bowls, oats etc). If you know you tend to overeat when you eat those, consider buying single serve options or not at all!
4. Dedicate one space in your home to eating: Generally, eating on the couch or in the bedroom (anywhere other than kitchen table) does not set us up for a mindful eating experience. Especially now, when our homes have our office, gym, daycare etc... Establishing some boundaries can be very helpful. ✨Life is less than ideal right now. Don't stress about being perfect... get some protein in, drink your water, move, and keep shit simple.

  • Very recently, someone I care about told me that I’d “never be successful the way that I’m going” and I’m not gonna lie, it fucked me up for a second. I debated with myself a lot about sharing online for fear of it reading as petty or inappropriate venting. But, everyone has been so lovely and supportive, either by leaving comments or DMing me, that it’s helped me realize sharing in these captions isn’t that scary. So, I want to leave this here as a public reminder to myself in case another negative narrative wiggles its way into my head again!

•I worked full time throughout high school and saved over 20k by my graduation date. •I graduated high school a semester early with a very clear plan on how to be the first in my family to get a college diploma.
•I put myself through college by working multiple jobs and applying for every academic scholarship I qualified for, maintained a 4.0 GPA, and graduated with honors. •I traveled across Europe at 22. I lived in a country where I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know anyone, and proved to myself that I was unshakable - that nothing could fuck with me unless I let it. I made friends, a few antagonists, and learned how adaptable I am. •I moved across the country, took a huge risk, the plan went sideways and instead of packing it in and I stayed true to myself, persevered, and met the single best human ever to be born. •After college, I jumped into an industry I wasn’t passionate about, stacked cash, met some lovely people, tortured myself by trying to conform to the corporate standard, and was promoted 4 times in 2 years. Finally, I realized that the hustle for more money and more status wasn’t going to make me happy so I left without any idea of what was to come. •Ive healed myself of past traumas, built healthy new relationships, created my own family, and continue to do the dirty work of regular individual therapy. •I try to be kind to everyone, I’m honest when it’s hard to be, and I’m always willing to admit when I’m an asshole.

So, in summation, friends, success is subjective. Live your best life the way you see fit and don’t let other people’s poison taint your happiness.

Set some health and fitness goals for yourself during this time, here’s mine: 
1. Exercise everyday (join me with my online options) 
2. Healthy meal prepping (avoid keeping foods at the house that don’t have any nutritional value) 
3. Drink plenty of water (half your body weight in ounces, avoid sodas/juices/sugary coffee) 
4. Keep moving (working from at home can promote more sitting, try to avoid being stationary for long periods at a time) 
Personal Quarantine Goals: 
1. Dive more into my relationship with the Lord
2. FaceTime friends and family I’m unable to see 
3. Work on getting my Corrective Exercise Certification to better me as a trainer 
4. Get some extra sleep :) Comment below some of your goals so we can keep each other accountable!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Social distancing and at home workouts are becoming the new norm. 😷 I’m grateful to have a solid set up at home so I can continue to make my health a priority during this time. 🙏 Also, #blessed to continue kicking it (virtually) with #thejamsquad every night, allowing me to stay connected to my community. 🧡💻
