  • Strands. They connect us with others when we play online. It can be a blessing, but for me, encounters with strangers online are sometimes unpleasant. I hear them producing all sorts of disgusting sounds, they put loud, obnoxious music for the entire server to hear. They use in-game voice communication to create all sorts of distractions, but rarely something that would benefit the team. And they can be total jerks.
This is the reason why many gamers hate playing online.
But what about a game that could only provide helpful interactions? No toxicity, no calling your mom names, no trolling to make you fail and absolutely no harassment? I'm not talking about Minecraft Christian Servers, I'm talking about Death Stranding.
So ok, you can connect with other players but what for, what's really the gameplay here, what's the story?
Death Stranding is a name of a destructive event that has nearly ceased all life on Earth.
BTs, creatures from the realm between life and death flooded our world and almost caused the extinction of our entire species. Now, on the teriroty that once was United States last human settlements try to unite again and form a network that will help them grow and rebuild. You're playing as Sam, a courier who, due to his abilities, is given a special task. His goal is to deliver cargo to remaining communities and convince them to join a new kind of network.
Other games add elaborate story and lots of characters to very simple tasks. This game just shifts this completely. There's barely any story to deliveries you make (I mean the deliveries that aren't part of the main storyline). You just know what's inside the package and where to deliver it. You make your story as you go, because the journey itself is a quest and a story. The terrain will fight you, the weight of packages you're carrying will fight you. Timefall (time accelerating rain produced by BTs) will destroy your equipment and supplies. Your lack of planning and experience will cause you to fail, and your lack of patience will often be the end of you. And to all of it, there are also human enemies in the game, and of course, supernatural enemies, the infamous BTs. <REST IN THE COMMENTS>
