- Happy place😊 I was extremely disappointed to learn today that I will have to withdraw from USNPC due to a major curveball that happened at work. Pole always gives me a disconnect from the stress of Corporate America and was especially a release for me after losing my grandfather to a heart attack and several friends in a plane crash last month. I thought by continuing to pursue Nationals despite all of this would be good for me, as it would give me some goals for which I am passionate about achieving. I tried to do it all: move on, return to work during the busiest phase of a project, condition myself physically, and choreograph a routine.
I just cannot. Not anymore. I am tired of putting on the face and pretending everything is fine. It will be, but it is not now. I am only human.
I will register for a regional competition in a few months to keep my momentum going - I may not have had the time to prepare for Nationals in just 3 weeks, but I will build on what I’ve trained and already have some things in my back pocket waiting to put on stage😉 The most important thing is that this sport and my sisters in it are here for me and provide respite. It did help me survive a very rough month (golly gee, I can’t believe it has been ONLY a month) and will continue to be my creative outlet.
