  • Life hasn't stopped after the Donkey Derby - we've been busy! We've had visits from the District Governor and the Zone Chair, we've had an extremely successful Swimarathon event, run an afternoon tea for La Nouvelle Maraitaine residents, helped to clear out the Red Cross Shop store, led a public awareness campaign on Hypoglycemia with Diabetes Guernsey, and many more initiatives. Our next event is Winter Wonderland on 4th December ☃️😊 #busybee #lionsclubs #lionsclubinternational #lionsclubofguernsey #volunteer #charity

  • Deliveries are done and evening pick ups willbegin shortly!  A couple helpful hints... your zucchini chicken enchilada stack is oven ready and freezer friendly.  The other two meals will not freeze and thaw quite as well. 
Your jars will last longer than the plastic clad lunches. We used up the apples (whoops) on our salads and smoothies, so we substituted some ripe but still firm pears in the snack pack. Hope this works for you!  Toss your pesto with the pasta salad for coverage and freshness (I just didn’t want it to dry out on you!). You can freeze your smoothies or energy balls. Keep the energy balls in the fridge at least!  The smoothies have lots of fruit and juice this week, not as thick as other weeks. Still packed with nutrients though!  Let me know what questions you have; and I’ll reply ASAP. Thank you as always. I know we all love to complain about how busy we are - the favourite in my lab is “I haven’t EVEN had lunch yet” #thestruggleisreal 😂 .
But today I have been really busy (yes - I didn’t even have lunch until 3.15!! 😂) but it’s been good. Really good. I’ve done a load of different experiments that I’ve been putting off for aaaages due to other higher priority experiments, including: a mutagenesis PCR and bacterial transformation, a cold kinase assay and first half of a western blot, and some optimisation experiments of my fluorescent gelatin coverslips. Phew 😅  This now means I don’t have to worry about doing these experiments last minute at the end of my time in the lab!

Who else loves a busy day? Or do you prefer to spread your work out in a nice, orderly and timely fashion? .

  • Been working on my #restgame the past 2 months.
.
After my whole life being a #busybee.. I slowed down and allowed my body to reset fully.
.
The richness, the depth it has given and continuous to give is something I WISH I could imprint in other people's brain..
.
I thought I was doing great, until something underneath it all was saying.. there's something deeper.
.
Something that you can't reach by yourself.
.
And so I upped the support from all angles (naturopath, supplementation, taking a full break of life, allowing my man to hold and support me and my team that kept expanding) and what opened up..
.
A delicious version of presence, life, peace, trust, excitement, clarity, fire, groundedness and much more of the juicy experiences that so many of us are after but can't yet 'find'.
.
Thank God for the past 3yrs where I've been relentless in practicing following my heart, whispers of my soul and that gut feeling so many of us have lost touch with.
.
The past few months have been the cherry on top. Life was already incredible and guess what.. it just keeps getting better, but not in the ways I expected lol #ofcourse.
.
So if you keep thinking..
I'm done
I'm tired
I don't know where to find the energy
I gotta keep going
.
If you wake up stressed, go to bed and your mind keeps thinking.
.
If you have that niggling feeling that something isn't right. But there's no time or no money to pause..
.
Think again.
We only have one life.
And it's happening NOW.
.
Time is passing and if there's one thing that we can't go without.. it's our HEALTH.
.

  • KEEP GOING!! Go in your own phase, you don’t have to rush but just do not give up! If you didn’t get where you wanted to be by December, girl, that doesn’t mean you failed, it will all come through, as long as you don’t stop! .

  • Stop 🛑 Overwhelming YOURSELF so that no ACTION OCCURS!

You’re ready to make changes to your health, you are all excited that THIS TIME IS THE TIME that you will shred the weight and keep it off forever
:
Starting tomorrow you are changing your diet, you will get up before work 4x a week to hit the gym, you will get to bed 30 minutes earlier, oh... and at lunch break you plan on start meditating!
:
All sounds GREAT RIGHT!! 👍
:
Then..... you crush the first day and then the 2nd day but now it’s mid week and you are tired and hungry and struggling fitting all these new habits into your daily life.
:
Trust me, nothing gets me MORE EXCITED then hearing someone say they are going to change their health behaviors
:
But we have to be careful that our motivation and high energy don’t set YOU up for LONG TERM failure or you freeze in trying to do so much that actually NOTHING happens at all
:
Everything mentioned above are amazing ways to make positive changes to ones health.
:
When starting to implement these changes we need to slow cook it.
:
Don’t let short term energy and motivation put you in a bad spot so you can’t SUSTAIN THESE HABITS
:
So my recommendations for those are these
1. Something such as sleep (which is my number one priority for clients) is a easy change that shouldn’t cause you much hassle. 
2. When starting to exercise, I’d rather see consistent exercise long term verse a ton all at once at the beginning. Example, exercise 2-3 times a week for 20 minutes verse 4-5 for an hour. (Again this is just for starting out) you are more likely to continue exercising 2-3 times long term then keeping up with 4-5 in a week
3. Nutrition: A lot to this one, but to keep it simple, you need to most likely change portion control, I don’t care what diet you choose to do this with, but we have to respect ENERGY BALANCE, so that you burn more than you consume. 
4. Mental Health: this one gets swept under the rug, but our mind is just as important as our body. Take time each day for yourself!

Remember, your health is a long term investment, we don’t have to do everything ALL at ONCE!
