  • Day 22 - Bovilla Lake.

Before leaving Albania, we made plans to go to Bovilla Lake located 1 hour away from Tirana. Half of the drive was rough roads with holes and random road blocks, but we managed get to the entrance point of the hike.

The hike was marked pretty clearly all the way and took about 1 hour. The first part was normal dirt/grass. We were the only ones there, besides goats, horses and one shepherd sleeping under a tree.

The second part was the real fun part! Rock climbing straight up on the side of the cliff (see image 5 & 6). There's not really a path so you gotta figure out yourself which rock to step on. I (Chymo) would like to think I'm pretty good with rocky hikes and was in full goat-mode 😉 Ken took a video of me rushing to the top - we will include it in our video later!

Once we reached the top, there was another huge rock to climb to have that "edge of the world" view. The first photo is a drone shot of me standing on that rock. If you have fear for height it's probably quite difficult, otherwise it's such cool final steps definitely worth taking.

We loved the fact there was no one at all, and we got to spend some quiet time up there until golden hour. Bovilla Lake is one of our favorite places in Albania for sure. If you have 1or 2 days in Tirana, skip Tirana and do this instead!
