I'm still working on a more in-depth review of the @wellyfirstaid brand. The new first-aid brand that packages their supplies in stylish, versatile tins. However, through the normal course of life I still manage to bump, scratch, poke, and scrape myself 🤕 So that calls for a smaller shout-out post!

Here you'll see I've scraped myself in what's normally an awkward and difficult location for a bandage. Not for Welly- Take one of their "Flex Fabric" bandages and you're set! Aside from the awesome color you can see that the fabric contours to the shape of my knuckle and the space between my fingers. The fit is secure and I'm able to move my hand and fingers with no restriction. If you haven't guess by now, I'm a huge fan of this brand! The flashy colors, variety of textures/materials, reusable tins, etc. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've always had a small obsession with first-aid kits. I'm thankful that a brand like Welly has come along to satisfy that obsession 😝

  • B fell yesterday in the kitchen. he tried to catch his fall, but his mouth hit an elephant in his hand at just the wrong angle, busting his lip open 😔. Injuries suck, but autism adds an extra shitty layer to ouchies. Arguably the most prominent part of autism is the sensory experience - many autistics describe it like having the volume of their senses turned all the way up. I find this to be very true for Ben - one thing he does often with a new texture is he rubs it across his lips (like a soft blanket, or he’ll graze his lips across my nails after I paint them), so it didn’t surprise me when this booboo set him the f*ck off. He was scared, he wanted so badly for this sensation to go away. how he handled this put him in an unintentionally self injurious state. He kept vigorously rubbing his open wound, making a bad situation much worse. We were quickly both covered in blood, saliva, and tears, and it took a lot longer than my mama heart would’ve liked to calm him down. Eventually he settled a bit, and the bleeding began to subside, leaving us trying to determine whether or not he needed stitches. His last ER experience left him in a horrible trauma response for 3 months, and he still has a fear of doctors from that day. We knew bringing him in would be a nightmare. that shouldn’t be a reason to avoid medical attention. Unfortunately, it is. The consideration of what staff you’ll encounter is a gamble... the odds of meeting someone trained and comfortable with autistic children are slim. An injury isn’t just an injury with autism. It’s an ordeal.
Since the bleeding stopped, and he realized it was best to leave it alone, we decided to monitor closely at home. Thank goodness for the best big brother a kid could ask for. Nurse Julian was such a helper, and I am so grateful for that little boy. Also so glad we bought a home near my husband’s work so he could jump in and be the most amazing partner in this crazy beautiful life we live ❤️. We’re still watching and tending closely to this booboo, but it’s looking like we made a good call. Praying he limits his crazy over the next week just enough to let this heal without reopening 🙏🏽. Never a dull moment!

  • **DO NOT SWIPE IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH!!** .

Last night is one that I will never forget. We were at lacrosse practice watching Cadence when my sweet baby boy slipped and fell on his chin busting it wide open!! I was that mom, ya know, the one that says "I told you you would get hurt!" 🤦🏼‍♀️ I then set him on my lap and when I go to check out his chin I immediately threw my hand under to catch tons of blood. Not sure who I was last night as I never cried and remained super calm but I rushed him to the ED where they got us in right away. They gave him valium and 6 stitches. The valium made Bubba as if he were drunk and high at the same time. The whole rest of the night had me laughing so hard my abs hurt and another scare when I thought he cracked his head open 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ But here we are, 24 hours later snuggled up thanking everyone for their help last night, the wonderful staff for fixing my baby up, and being a super proud mama of 3 year old!! 😍😘💙🥍 #babywirley2 #babyboy #johndavidwirley #bubba #bubbaganoush #mywholeworld #smiles #perfection #lovehim #handsome #mamaslittleman #stitches #splitchin #booboos #proudmama

  • We have all had children or have grandchildren that hurt themselves! 🐻
Maggy for instance, she tried her new skate board for the very first time, hit a pebble and fell and scraped her knee. 🐾
Timmy was running around with his shoe lace undone and hurt himself too! 🐵
Mikey the Monkey as you can guess was jumping on the bed and KABOOM! 😊
If you notice they are all smiling because they had their cold booboo pillows to help ease the bumps, bruises and scrapes they all got from just playing!!! ❤
You can get yours for only $5 each at the Grimsby Christmas Market tomorrow or at the Early Bird Artisan BAZaar in Burlington Sunday

  • Good morning!!! 😃 So if you’re having a bad day, allow me to share this with you. So I’ve been struggling with a bad pimple right underneath my nostril for the past 3 days. Today got pretty bad and so now my upper lip is swollen. Yes, it hurts and I’ll be heading to see a doctor, but we’ve also had our good laughs about this. @fiascofreddy The hubby says I still look cute because now I remind him of a Whoville person from Dr. Suess. 😂 So If you think you’re in the holiday spirit, I’ll one up you cuz I have literally turned into a Whoville and I’m not even the type that gets into any type holiday spirit . Maybe you could even say that I’m possibly turning into the Grinch.

  • Two years ago today, we went on our first date. How did I know we were meant to be? That night we belted our hearts out to Bailamos in your Jeep, and you wore my infinity scarf in a packed bar and let me take that picture 👆🏼 How did you know we were meant to be? If I were to guess, it would be the next day when I waited for you on a bench outside your apartment with a 30 pack of Miller Lite. Either way, the past two years have been the BEST two years. Cheers to an endless amount more 💗 #booboos #🦞

  • Zoey is doing well today. Thank you everyone for the support and love. She has been battling an awful stomach bug all week. Poor kiddo. Today she was chasing her daddy and she fell. Got her first knee scrapes. Surprisingly she didn't cry. But later on in the day, she did start dramatically saying she couldn't walk and needed to be carried because her "boo boos hurt." 😂 This girl makes my broken heart so full. She made me a mama and continues to light up my life. So grateful to be this vivacious, smart, strong little monkey's mama. #firstborn #booboos #kneescrapes #lifeafterloss #grievingparent

Some people might have thought I was going to birth a 20lb baby in that picture on the left. Thankfully that was not the case, but, I was pretty large by time he made his grand entrance fashionably late. I was tired, I was hot, I was SO over chasing a toddler while carrying close to 60 extra lbs of weight. At the same time I was terrified, excited, and full of so many emotions as I knew I was bringing this big guy state side within the next day. I was probably worried about the same things that every mom of two or more kids worries about, like, how could I give my two precious babies all the love I knew they deserved? Will they hate each other because it will always be a fight for my attention? Or, how in the hell am I going to keep this hot mess express on track with two when things were tough with one? I was a mess, but I was also ready to meet my boy.
.
The picture on the right is a mom attempting to conduct that hot mess express one day at a time. Still working on losing those last 20ish lbs, still dealing with postpartum body issues but it's a work in progress. I have to remind myself daily that the body and baby on the left took 40 weeks and 5 days to make and it may take a little longer to get back to a new and improved version of myself. I am learning that both of my babies still love me even though I feel like I'm struggling to balance everything, especially when they are both demanding my attention. Even on the extra hard days Emma still comes to me to take care of her boo boos and Myles still loves to give me big open mouthed kisses and pull my hair. They show love to each other often enough that I imagine them actually liking each other as big kids and young adults.
.

I didn't just get my boy. I got the sweetest, most happy baby boy I could have ever asked for. His little smile and his laugh are beyond infectious and he is such a little social butterfly. He looks at me and I still can't believe how lucky I am to have such beautiful sweet babies.
