  • LET GO 🧡 My classes this week have been centred around a concept in yoga philosophy called Aparigraga (meaning non-attachment or lettering go). We often hold on to things that no longer serve us, whether that be possessions, people or even thoughts/ feelings. Change is the only constant thing we can expect in life, yet we tend to fear it. 
In yoga, it is believed that this attachment or inability to let go, is one of the key causes of suffering; it’s what can stop us from moving forward. Instead, if we learn to accept change, if we appreciate things as they are in the moment...we find freedom. 
CLASSES TOMORROW:  09:15-10:15 am, Wincheap. 11:00-12:00 am, Lifestyle Fitness.

  • PLAY 🙃 “Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are” - @jason_crandell. 
Using this to fuel my yoga practice at the moment; experimenting with new poses, noticing if fear or judgement arises and trying them anyway...reminding myself that a ‘F A I L’ is just a First Attempt In Learning. 
Covered a lovely class this morning for @activelyaliveuk, now off to London to do some fun things, yay🤗 Happy Saturday!

MY BODY
My body is so beautiful, from my head to my toes.
I have many parts, feet take me where I want to go.
I have a lot of organs, like a bladder, lungs and heart.
I have a lot of muscle and bones, but that is just the start.
My body has white blood cells, to keep me from getting ill.
Red blood cells carry oxygen and food to my organs, better still.
My body has a lot of systems, that work together like a team.
Keeping my body healthy and working, without effort, so it seems.
I keep my body healthy, by eating healthy snacks and foods,

  • Supongo, que mucha gente se aburre de jugar la misma partida cada día porque creen que el objetivo del juego es ganar...y acaban cambiando de baraja. .

Pasado el tiempo, entienden, ya tarde, que las cartas siguen siendo las mismas, y la habilidad del jugador es la que determina el resultado de la partida. Y al menos en este mano a mano, en este solitario de dos, el maestro es aquel que prefiere la pareja al poker, porque sabe que la jugada maestra puede repetirse una y otra vez, si a uno no le importa ganar o perder, sino con o contra quién.

  • THE SELF🌝 “Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you.” - Paulo Coelho✨

After attending a wonderful body confidence/ self-esteem workshop yesterday with @sammyrainbowfurnival (and 20-something others), it became very apparent to me how hard we can be on ourselves; hearing multiple people share their long lists of self-deprecating beliefs was a real eye-opener. So many of us feel pressure to constantly be better; although it is great to want to progress in life, if that progression is based on what we think we “should do” in order to be more accepted/more loved/more admired etc. it becomes detrimental to our confidence and, consequently, our overall happiness👎🏼 The workshop yesterday cultivated mixed feelings for me: I felt sad these people I was with had such negative opinions of themselves, I felt reassured that I am not the only one who struggles with this sometimes and I felt inspired…inspired to incorporate this theme of self-compassion into my own classes this week; encouraging others to acknowledge their inner critic, accept it is there but refrain from buying into the bullshit stories it tells us🙅🏻‍♀️ Next class: tomorrow evening, 6-7pm in Wincheap (CT1 3PY). All levels welcome🧘🏻‍♂️🧘🏻‍♀️

  • STRETCH🙆🏻‍♀️ Seriously, please do! Stretching not only increases flexibility and ROM, but also can improve your performance in physical activity, posture and even blood circulation, as well as providing stress relief. For years I suffered with a bad back from an old gymnastics/dance injury, but since I have become a yoga teacher I have had no problems with it at all. Even just 5-10 minutes a day can make such a difference😚

Class this evening: Relax & Reset, 19:00-20:00 at Manor Barn Studio in Canterbury (CT1 3UR)🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻‍♂️ p.s bring a notebook/ journal!

  • Illustration Course Day 2: Drawing from life, 12 minute study ✍🏼 I haven’t done this in yeaaaaars! My work now is usually full of colour, pattern and texture so it felt really out of my comfort zone going back to drawing with a just a graphite pencil and water. My model, Cole, was beautiful though...such a pleasure to draw!

  • OVERLOAD🤚🏼 “I sometimes feel like my head is a computer with too many windows open. Too much clutter on the desktop. There is a metaphorical spinning rainbow wheel inside me. Disabling me.“ -Matt Haig, Notes on a Nervous Planet (which I have just finished reading and LOVED btw) 📖 I can totally relate to this, feeling like I have a million and one tabs open in my brain and each one seems equally important. Consequently, I become increasingly stressed and anxious (not ideal). Having more hours in the day wouldn’t help because I would just fill them, I would just add more things to my To-Do lists. The problem isn’t a lack of time, it’s an overload of everything else.

I find the only thing that helps, is SLOWING DOWN. Pausing. Moving my body, becoming aware of my breath, writing stuff in a journal or lying down and doing absolutely F-all. This doesn’t make all my thoughts go away (that is impossible), but it allows me the mental space to process them, to sort them like when I delete apps off my phone or declutter my desktop.

  • THANKS FOR JOINING ME🧘🏻‍♀️ Had a fab time today @cspinthepark music festival 🌷 It was so cool to teach an open class outdoors where literally anyone could join in at anytime during the practice (shout out to the woman following along on her balcony)

  • THANKS FOR JOINING ME🧘🏻‍♀️ Had a fab time today @cspinthepark music festival 🌷 It was so cool to teach an open class outdoors where literally anyone could join in at anytime during the practice (shout out to the woman following along on her balcony)
