  • Watch the backdrop move at Wangedigala 😍 an adventurers trail 📸 the location has been done sincere justice in this video by @iflytoohigh_ ❤️ follow his travels for some beautiful escapes! 🙏🏻
.
This location is one of the access routes to Balathudawa Peak and Gommolli Kanda in Kalupahana. You may think this resembles Alagalla or Hanthana, however this is a tougher trail and two days would be recommended if you're going to camp on site 🙏🏻
.
Also, if you're visiting the three waterfalls Lanka Ella, Yahalathenna and Bambarakanda, you might want an extra day to catch your breath in between the falls and the peak ❤️
.
If you're a looking for a challenge, then from Wangedigala you can hike the ridge upto Balathudawa peak which is about 2.5.km away and then go further 1.km to Gommolli Kanda (Which is the 13th highest mountain in Sri Lanka) ❤️
.
This trek is a tedious one with steep climbs and dense foliage. Check out the hashtags below and chat with people who have done the trek ⚠️ Not suitable for camping during heavy rains. It is slippery, damp and leaches are plenty. Wear proper footwear and carry a small first aid kit ⚠️

  • From the bottom, Diyaluma disappears into the sky ❤️ the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and number 361 in the world at 720.ft ☀️🇱🇰 photo from the stunning gallery of @notanothermica check out his other photos in the island! 👣
.
The pool at the bottom is rarely photographed as people most often try to hike the top. However the pool is shallow and rocky and easy to dip into. It is about 6 km away from Koslanda and many stop to view it from the road, but never get close ❤️ The main road is quite decent and the drive there is pretty easy 🇱🇰

At an altitude of over 5000.ft it is a relatively easy peak to climb, but still requires climbing over a couple of hills and slippery terrain to get there. Check out the location and hashtags for more photos ⚠️Not suitable for climbing during rain and thunder storms ⚠️ Use proper footwear 🧗🏻‍♀️
.
It's about 110.km South East from Kandy or 235.km East of Colombo. To get to this location you have to get to Hali-Ela in Badulla (There is a train station) then head over to Kandegedera town, after that ask around and head over to the Keena Kele Division of the Sarnia Tea Estate (This is not a listed on maps) Once you get to the town you can speak to people and get a local guide to take you half way ❤️

There is a small temple on one of the peaks so please maintain your peace and If you're camping, try to camp away from the temple 🙏 Carry water, and extra bags to bring back any trash you may find on the way 🙏 Please help keep the place cleaner than when you got there! ❤️

  • Bambarakanda Falls 😍 the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka ❤️ At over 860.ft it lies in the evergreen forests of Kalupahana 📸 captured by @ajanth.v 🙏🏻
.
You can see this view 1.km uphill if you're climbing Balathuduwa Peak (4.km hike) from the Kalupahana end of the Colombo - Rathnapura - Wellawaya - Batticoloa highway (Starting just before Kalupahana Junction) 😍
.
To get to upper or lower Bambarakanda, you have to travel on the Kalupahana - Ohiya road. West of this fall you get Lanka Ella about 500m west (⚠️ it's unsafe to swim but is gorgeous) and further 500m away Yahalathenna Waterfall. (Thick bushes and sheer climbs to get to this fall, please be prepared and careful) 😍
.
In addition about 8.Km North East by the same road you can visit Bumara Falls, Nagadowa Falls and Uduwara Falls ⚠️ Don't attempt to hike between the two sets of waterfalls, as it is an exhausting trek around or over open mountains ⛰😥

Uva health Triangle Ella, Haputale & Welimada

East of the Central highlands ridge are the picturesque hills of Uva Province. Badulla draws Buddhist pilgrims from across the island during the festivals The climate of the triangle formed by Ella, Haputale & Welimada (in #Badulla) is regarded by many Sri Lankans as the most favourable on the island. This is a marvellous walking country, where views, particularly at Ella & Haputale, formed by spectacular "gaps" in its precocious ridges. This is the market garden area where carrots, beans, brassicas including cabbages, broccoli, brussels sprout, cauliflower, turnip & many other fresh vegetables are grown, much of it for export to the Middle East.

The town is capital of the mountainous Uva Province, but as it is situated at a slightly lower elevation (about 600 metres) it features tropical vegetation (especially palms) rather than the rolling patanas (plains) typical of the region. Badulla, the end of the line for rail travellers from Colombo, Kandy and Nanu Oya (close to Nuwara Eliya) is surrounded by paddy fields along the banks of the river Gallanda Oya & has an old fort against a backdrop of mountains & a small lake. It is one of the oldest towns in Sri Lanka though there are no traces of the earlier settlement. The Portuguese once occupied it but set the town on fire before leaving. In contrast to the comparatively recently populated Highland region, Uva, which stretches across the plains as far south as Kataragama, is sometimes held to be the original home of the Kandyan civilization, whose people would have used the river valleys draining into the River Mahaweli as a natural migration route into the hills.

  • The lesser known "Aradunu Ella" ❤️ The beautiful 98.ft waterfall is also known as "Arjuna Ella" by the residents in Passara 📸 a complete view from the awesome gallery of @travel_with_kush_86 🇱🇰
.
Located in the northern parts of Passara in a private tea estate named "Elteb Tea Estate". There is a small walk to reach the fall after which you will come to the hydro-power plant connected to the fall. The waterfall is in a ravine and this makes the mid and upper sections steep and slippery at all times ⚠️ Do not attempt to climb this area 🙏🏻
.
To get to the fall you have to travel 300m east from the Passara bus station. Just before the fork you take the sharp left onto the Passara - Madulsima - Metigahatenna Road. 2.2.km down this road there will be a sign on the left hand side saying "Aradunu Falls - 2.km". From this point on, the journey is yours! 💪🏻
