  • Jangan lewatkan beri makan pada bayi

Kalau ikut kebanyakan guideline memang 6 bulan utk baby yg normal cukup bulan dan takde masalah boleh beri makan.
Dan tak boleh lebih lewat dari 6 bulan

1. Sebabnya khasiat susu ibu dah tak cukup nak tampung next pembesaran anak

  • Feeling festive over here at the Lough household 🎄
•
Trying to get Nolan to sit at the table to eat his lunch is nearly impossible when The Grinch is on tv 🤦🏼‍♀️ anyone else’s littles obsessed with the cartoon version on Netflix !? It’s on repeat over here and I’m not complaining about it!😍
•
On a side note- I wanted to show you guys the reusable storage containers we recently found from @iamfitstronghealthy ! They’re leakproof , and 100% BPA free ! They’re also freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe . I cannot tell you how many times I have packed snacks for the boys and when I went back to check on them the whole diaper bag would be covered in food , but with these, not one leak or problem! There’s also a 90 day warranty if they’re not for you , BUT I’m sure you’re gonna love them 😍
•
If you’re interested in trying them out , you can use my code 👉🏼 THELOUGHDOWN25 for a little $$ off 🥰 ALSO— shipping is FREE !

.

  • Using simple, single-ingredient purées can help you spot and identify a food allergy or sensitivity. Once you have proven your child’s tolerance to individual foods, you can try combinations to enhance flavor and likeability.
.
Try fruits like apples, avocados, apricots, bananas, mangoes, plum, or pears;
.
Try veggies such as green beans, carrots, broccoli, green peas, squash or sweet potatoes;
.
Or try simple grains like rice, oatmeal or barley.

Nachmittag 🍪 Obstmus-Haferflocken Kekse 🔜 Rezept folgt ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • 😩😐What do you do when your baby gags? Our natural response to gagging is to FREAK. OUT. 😱So if that's you, there is absolutely no shame in it, it's a normal parent reaction when you see something that worries you. But here's the thing. Having that reaction can make it worse! 🙈Your baby looks to you to gauge a situation. If they see you scared, anxious, jumping at every little thing they do, they think that what is happening is wrong and scary.

I know you've probably heard it by now, but gagging is totally normal! It's pretty much not a question of if, but when. And no that's not just for babies doing baby led weaning. If they don't gag at the very beginning of eating, they will likely gag as they get older and are introduced to other textures. It's just a way of learning. So sticking to purees doesn't mean that you'll get away from having to handle gagging. 🤷‍♀️

So what should you do instead of freaking out? To be cliched, you need to never let them see you sweat! Yes, you will be worried. Yes, you'll watch them like hawks. But you don't outwardly react. You practice acting for all you've got. If your baby is gagging, calmly coach them through it. No sudden movements, no loud voices. There is nothing you can do once the gagging starts, to be honest. You need to let them work it out themselves, and being loud and scared doesn't help them do that.

✨If gagging is one of the things that scares you about your baby eating, and you are not confident in what to do, make sure you check out my online course about starting solid foods. It's designed to walk you through everything you need to know so that you are confident in what you're doing!

  • It can be overwhelming to think of going from nursing or giving a bottle to actually needing to incorporate meals into your day for your baby. Good news, though! You don't have to go straight to three meals right off the bat. 🤗I get questions about how many meals your baby needs every single week, so let's talk about it!

When you first start, it's more about getting the hang of the process for your baby (and you!). You want them to get used to everything about meals, but don't expect them to actually eat all that much. One or two meals each day is plenty for them to practice with for at least the first month or two. You do want to make sure you are consistently giving them these 1-2 meals, though, so they get in the practice.

Once they actually start consistently swallowing the food, usually by 9 months, is when it's a great idea to up meals to 3 times a day. Still no need for snacks here unless they show clear signs of hunger after they nurse of have a bottle first.

Around 12 months most people start to think about weaning their baby from breastmilk or formula completely. At this point, start incorporating 1-2 snacks daily.

This is, as always, just a ballpark! Every baby is going to be different. Some babies will be super into food and can't get enough of it right from the beginning. If that's the case, there's no harm in going straight to 3 meals, as long as they're still nursing or taking the bottle! Some babies will need snacks earlier because they just have a larger appetite. Or maybe at 1 they still get a lot of breastmilk and so don't need as much of a snack. Use this is a guideline, and tweak so that it fits your baby and your family!

  • I could talk about the benefits of introducing textures and finger foods to your baby early all day long! “Early” can mean slightly different things for every baby, but for the most part, by 6-7 months your baby is ready to start advancing and reaping the benefits now and down the road of introducing finger foods earlier on!
.
Benefits including:
.
✅Advanced oral motor skills
✅Reduced gagging and difficulty with textures
✅ Reduced risk of picky eating down the road!

You can read all about it in my featured blog post on @mamaknows_nutrition blog, where you can also download a free guide on the “Top 5 Textures to Introduce to Your Baby” ...available until Nov 11th at 12 am CST ONLY!! It’s complete with recipes and food ideas so don’t miss out on it!

  • If you've been following me for any length of time, you have probably heard me talk about the 3 categories that I recommend serving babies and toddlers to make balanced meals: Iron-rich, high calorie, and fruits/veg. (If you haven't, make sure you head to the link in my bio for some resources!) I get the most questions about what constitutes a high calorie food, so let's talk about it!

To break it down for you, the easiest way to think of it is essentially the foods that don't fit into the fruit or veggie category, or the iron-rich category! It's that simple.

There are of course a few things to keep in mind. The best sources of calories are going to be fat, and sometimes there's not much fat in these foods. I always to aim to put some form of high fat item with things like bread or oatmeals to help round them out some. You don't always have to do it, but it definitely can help get your baby all the fat they need on top of the calories! So adding some butter to bread, add milk or a nut butter to your oatmeal.

If you have two fruits or veggies you want to serve at a meal, see if one of them will fit into the high calorie category, like this avocado. (Sweet potato is another good one here.) The idea of the categories is to simplify things, not add stress. So do your best not to overthink it!

But at the heart, the high-calorie category is really the catch all category. Aim for a variety of foods, and stay away from processed foods as much as you can, especially under one. But outside of that, just add use it as the extra category.

If you're looking for some specific examples, I've got lists of foods in each category inside of my starting solids course, and the grow baby grow ebook also has all of the foods in it classified into these three categories. Both would be great places to start, and can be found at the link in my bio!

  • 🍝 LIST OF EASY-TO-PREPARE RECIPES FOR FUSSY EATERS 🥞
.
.
I’m sure we’ve all seen meal-time dramas, irrational tantrums over food and we’ve all had those days when our child won’t open his mouth to eat unless the TV is turned on 😐
.
I’ve written a series on posts on how to deal with picky eaters (which I’m planning to compile and write a blog post on), but today I thought of sharing some interesting ideas which have worked for us, especially during her teething and growth spurt phase.
.
Save this post so that the next time your child won’t open his mouth to eat, you can come and check this post, see the ingredients you have and quickly whip up something healthy.
.
.
🍍Pumpkin-tomato-beetroot soup
🍍Millet vegetable noodles (add tomato purée to make it tangy)
🍍Mix dal khichdi ( add Palak or beetroot purée to make it healthier)
🍍Caramelised banana (use ghee and jaggery)
🍍Peanut butter and chapati roll (you can slice it up like Swiss rolls)
🍍Oats idli (with vegetables)
🍍Fruit sheera (Chickoo sheera has been a hit at our place)
🍍Curd with chopped fruits and chia seeds
🍍Curd with honey topped with homemade granola
🍍Instant rava appe with sambar
🍍Chicken noodle soup
🍍Beans quesadillas/chicken quesadillas (made using homemade roti instead of tortillas). Alternatively, you can place your sabzi, add some cheese or grated paneer, fold and toast till crispy.
🍍Banana-cashew butter- flax seeds smoothie
🍍Sol kadhi made using coconut milk with khichdi
🍍Cauliflower-potato mash made using cheese (great for those days when they’re super fussy)
🍍Daliya haleem: Pressure cook broken wheat with soaked lentils, veggies and chicken (or paneer for vegetarians), add tadka and spices based on your child’s preferences, top with mint leaves and lemon.
.
.
⭐️Most of these recipes are ready within 20 mins, so please ditch that packet of cerelac and opt for fresh homemade food for your child.
.
Please tag your mommy friends so that they benefit from this too.
.
Have a great day! ❤️
