  • Alright – I finally gave in and read Game of Thrones. I tried to read it six years ago during my second year of uni... got 100 pages in and gave up. I have no idea why !! There must've been something wrong with me, because it's damned near impossible to put this book down!

I love details. I've always loved reading about tiny little details in books – from clothing to architecture to food. If you like that kind of thing then George R.R. Martin is for you. On every page there are multitudes of little details. It must've been the easiest thing designing sets for the tv series, because he's literally told them exactly what is in each set. When you're reading it you can see it – you can see everything in your mind and it's so beautiful. At the feasts you can smell the food. When someone dies you can see the blood and hear the swing of the sword.
Problematically for me, he writes about bread, butter and honey every 10 pages, which had me dribbling for tiger bread smothered in butter so frequently (not the best for January dieting). The book is messy like life – people die frequently, people change their minds frequently, people betray others and people worry very frequently.
I love a book with a lot of names, and this seriously has a lot of names! It is almost slightly too complex in that sense, and watching the series genuinely did help me (although now I know what's going to happen!). This book is packed with details, emotions and brilliant plot, and I absolutely loved it. Cannot wait to start the next one.

Thank you George R.R. Martin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#georgerrmartin #agameofthones #books #reading #bookseries #asongoficeandfire #bookreviews #onedown #fantasy #epicplot #brilliantbooks

#140 - MYRANDA
.
Myranda was a servant of House Bolton of the Dreadfort, her father being the castle's kennelmaster. She was one of Ramsay Snow's bedwarmers and part-time helper in some of his torture sessions.
.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
.
- As Sansa wanders around the castle, Myranda approaches her beside the tower where Jaime Lannister once pushed Bran Stark from the window. Myranda puts on a friendly façade, talking to Sansa about her mother’s demise and offering her condolences, which Sansa accepts, though she clearly sees through her. To help Sansa "remember" how things used to be before her family's untimely death, Myranda leads Sansa down to the kennels to reunite her with Theon.
.
- During the battle between the Bolton soldiers and the forces of Stannis Baratheon, Myranda takes Theon and corners Sansa with a bow and arrow before she can escape under the orders of Ramsay to bring her to her bed chamber. After Sansa makes it clear that she is unafraid of death, Myranda admits that Ramsay needs Sansa alive in order to birth an heir to the North, though she still threatens to maim her with her arrow. Before she can release it, Theon grabs her, making her fire and miss. In the ensuing struggle, Theon ignores Myranda's pleas and throws her off the rampart to her death, enacting a small justice for his castration as well as the death of Tansy.
