  • ¿La primera obra de Juan Martínez Montañés? . No se sabe a ciencia cierta si es la primera obra del escultor pero según un documento hallado por Félix González de León en el Libro primero de entradas de la hermandad del Dulce Nombre nos dice: "Juan Martínez Montañés, escultor, vecino de esta ciudad, en la collación de San Lorenzo, en la calle de los Tiros, entró por nuestro hermano de luz, juntamente con Ana Villegas, su mujer, en 11 de octubre de 1592. Tiene rematado por toda su vida, por lo que no se le ha de pedir cosa alguna por haber dado graciosamente a la cofradía la imagen de nuestra señora, de talla, de las Tristezas". . Hoy en día la imagen ha sufrido muchos retoques y repintes, e incluso una de sus manos ha sido reconstruida. Siyah tessara üzerine yapılmış cam mozaikler. Roma döneminde elit sınıfın arasında sosyal etkinlik olarak iki şey çok önemli. Biri hamam olayı ikincisi ise akşam yemeği. Birinci sahnede bir zenci, kürekle ateş atıyor. Bu hamamı simgeliyor. Orta sahnede ise güneş saati ve ona koşan giysili bir genç ve arkasında çıplak kafalı bir uşağı var. Güneş saati 9 ile 10 arasında. Saat 9.00 Romalılarda hamam saati. Saat 10.00'da ise akşam yemeğine yetişmek zorunda. Eğer yetişmezse çok ayıp karşılanıyor. Orta sahnede böyle bir anlatım var. Sahne üzerinde yemeğe geç kaldığını belirten bir yazı var. Diğerinde de zaman kavramını anlatan bir yazı yer alıyor. Son sahnede ise ehli keyif bir iskelet. The result is a beautifully warm, lively interior scene of fashionable figures.   • Between 1911 and 1918 Maetzel-Johannsen traveled repeatedly to Berlin. During the First World War she took classes from Lovis Corinth. After the war, together with her husband, Maetzel-Johannsen was one of the co-founders of the Hamburg Secession. In 1921, Maetzel-Johannsen moved into her own studio in Hamburg. Here works were made, in which she emphasized the surface effect of the paintings more strongly.   • With Georges Seurat’s Le Chahut, 1890, oil on canvas, 170 x 141 cm, in Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo. Georges Seurat, 1859-1891, is considered one of the most important Post Impressionist painters. He renounced the random spontaneity of Impressionism in favor of a measured painting technique grounded in science and the study of optics to depict modern urban life. He found inspiration in contemporary writing on color theory, especially the treatises of Charles Henry, Eugène Chevreul, and Odgen Rood. His technique of using tiny brushstrokes of contrasting colors, dots, which he applied so close to one another that the eye blends them into forms became known as Pointillism. Seurat made numerous, meticulous drawing and oil sketches which he used to help design the composition and determine the effects of color and light. Although his oeuvre is relatively small in quantity, he had a lasting impact on the work of Paul Signac and other peers who took his use of color theory and technical innovations further. Seurat completed La Chahut, which is an alternative name for the sexually charged can-can dance, a year before his death. During this time he dedicated several works to performances of circus and cabaret acts from Paris. Seurat captures the excitement and joyous atmosphere of Parisian nightlife in a measured composition. To evoke gaiety Seurat focused on an upward movement of lines throughout the painting. Examples of these ascending lines can be seen in smiles, eyebrows, moustaches, bows, instruments, lamps, clothing and the dancers’ legs among others. The work was first exhibited at the 1890 Salon de la Société des Artistes Indépendants. Despite its energetic subject Le Chahut was criticized as being too wooden and mechanical.   • This image of the goddess Ma'at comes from the exquisitely decorated tomb of Nefertari (QV66, Valley of the Queens). Interestingly, the areas around the nose and chin where the white paint of the background has worn away, you can still see the goddess' original profile which was traced by the first artist before being corrected and fully painted by his more senior colleague. #egyptology #archaeology #ancientegypt #hieroglyphs #hieroglyphics #maat #nefertari #goddess #arthistory #luxor

Esto se aprecia en el lienzo luminista que ahora contemplamos, un cuadro de composición equilibrada y armónica lleno de luz y movimiento. Está protagonizado por tres figuras infantiles de tamaño monumental que corren en primer término, a la orilla de la playa, mientras otras cuatro se bañan y juegan en el agua, en segundo término. El cuerpo desnudo del niño y las dos niñas protagonistas, con sus amplias batas blancas y rosadas, se recortan y contrastan cromáticamente sobre el mar, que se desarrolla eliminando toda referencia al horizonte para colmar la parte superior del lienzo con el azul profundo del agua, en contraste también con la franja inferior de arena, que da la nota de equilibrio y estatismo a la composición. . La supresión del horizonte permite al pintor hacer más patente el protagonismo de estas tres figuras, al tiempo que facilita el contraste de colores complementarios. El mar, de colorido intenso, está pintado con amplias y estrechas pinceladas horizontales de distintas gamas de azul intenso, violetas e incluso de ocres, que se distribuyen nerviosamente sobre un fondo de preparación azul claro, en un recurso que le permite plasmar el bullicioso movimiento del agua. En cuanto a los cuerpos y ropas de los niños están trazados con mano rápida y gesto vivo, aunque sintético, que expresa fielmente la fugacidad de los movimientos; con una amplia gama de colores integrados en el blanco y rosa de las batas, emulando multitud de reflejos; y con un toque de pincel empastado y preciso para construir los brillos de la piel húmeda de los muchachos.

Esto se aprecia en el lienzo luminista que ahora contemplamos, un cuadro de composición equilibrada y armónica lleno de luz y movimiento. Está protagonizado por tres figuras infantiles de tamaño monumental que corren en primer término, a la orilla de la playa, mientras otras cuatro se bañan y juegan en el agua, en segundo término. El cuerpo desnudo del niño y las dos niñas protagonistas, con sus amplias batas blancas y rosadas, se recortan y contrastan cromáticamente sobre el mar, que se desarrolla eliminando toda referencia al horizonte para colmar la parte superior del lienzo con el azul profundo del agua, en contraste también con la franja inferior de arena, que da la nota de equilibrio y estatismo a la composición.

    La supresión del horizonte permite al pintor hacer más patente el protagonismo de estas tres figuras, al tiempo que facilita el contraste de colores complementarios. El mar, de colorido intenso, está pintado con amplias y estrechas pinceladas horizontales de distintas gamas de azul intenso, violetas e incluso de ocres, que se distribuyen nerviosamente sobre un fondo de preparación azul claro, en un recurso que le permite plasmar el bullicioso movimiento del agua. En cuanto a los cuerpos y ropas de los niños están trazados con mano rápida y gesto vivo, aunque sintético, que expresa fielmente la fugacidad de los movimientos; con una amplia gama de colores integrados en el blanco y rosa de las batas, emulando multitud de reflejos; y con un toque de pincel empastado y preciso para construir los brillos de la piel húmeda de los muchachos.

Komusō 虚無僧 means “priest of nothingness” or “monk of emptiness. They were known for playing solo pieces on the shakuhachi (a type of Japanese bamboo flute). These pieces, called honkyoku ("original pieces"), were played during a meditative practice called suizen, for alms, as a method of attaining enlightenment, and as a healing modality. Komusō wore a tengai or tengui (天蓋), a woven straw hat or kasa which completely covered their head like an overturned basket or a kind of woven beehive. The idea was that by wearing such a hat they removed their ego. What the hat also did was remove their identity from prying eyes. Furthermore, the government granted the komusō the rare privilege to freely travel the country without hindrance—playing the flute for alms and meditation.
