  • It's National Pollinator Week!
Established by the U.S. Senate in 2007, this initiative helps bring attention to protecting and enhancing habitats for insects, birds, and other pollinators that are essential to our planet's - and our - wellbeing. Last year the Arboretum horticulture crew planted 2500 plugs of butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) in two prominent meadows on Peter’s Hill. Along with being excellent plants for a host of native pollinators, butterfly milkweed is also a host plant for Monarch Butterflies, an iconic species whose populations have seen steady declines. #arnoldarboretum #nationalpollinatorweek #pollinators #butterflies #plants

This is actually one of my favorite photos. Dana and I might sell these cosplays though (she did Xianghua) because they're a little outdated. I would say they were the first real detailed ones we did, especially with props! .
Does anyone else enjoy Soul Calibur or other fighting games?

  • Dad 🌲 December 2018. THERE WILL BE NO SEPARATION IN OUR SUFFERING. When I was in middle school I remember one day on the car ride home from school you told me that no matter what someone looks like, their color, their physical ability, where they live, what they do, how they live, rich or poor- we all feel the same emotions. We all feel sadness and grief, joy and laughter, embarrassment and regret... I was stunned, thinking to myself, “ you mean a girl my age in China is also feeling embarrassed and awkward all the time right now too?! “ thank you for teaching me oneness so early on. It’s just one of the MANY lessons of compassion you so effortlessly wrapped me up in. Thank you, I love you so much! #fathersday #arnoldarboretum #boston #oneness

  • A perfect day to lead a medicinal plant walk at Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum with @eanemone! More than 50 people gathered like a swarm as we reminded them of the “people’s medicine” growing right beneath their feet and all around them. 🌱 ❤️ 🌎. 📸: @vannispice #arnoldarboretum #medicinalplants #harvard

  • I spent a lot of my life hating this building, how its brutal lines forced their way into your field of view no matter where you were in the arboretum, itself a constant monumental reminder of the city you were trying to escape. It’s grown on me though. Now it’s a comfort. A reminder that even though I’m in the city, I still have this lush landscape around me. A reminder that no matter how big humans build, the forest grows bigger. A reminder that sometimes, my pasture is greener than my neighbor’s. And even though I still hate the architecture, when the golden sun hits it right - it almost looks like El Dorado, and that makes it worth it.⠀

  • Each spring after classes end at Norfolk County Agricultural High School, 10 juniors join the crew of the Arnold Arboretum as interns to learn about the care of public gardens and arboreta.
Working together and mentored by our horticultural crew, the group spent each day on a different aspect of public garden maintenance, including learning pruning techniques for woody plants, edging and mulching plant beds, removing invasive species, learning about soil maintenance and composting, working in the Dana Greenhouses, going into an aerial lift, and one of their favorites – learning tree-climbing techniques with Arboretum arborists. At the end of their five-week experience, they visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History on Harvard’s campus; shared a presentation of their time at the Arboretum with the staff; and enjoyed a farewell luncheon. #arnoldarboretum #learning #horticulture #experiences #fun

  • Founded in 1872, The Arnold Arboretum, outside Boston, is known for its great tree collection. There are some really big tree species there, including a Davidia Involucrata, (commonly called a dove or handkerchief tree) which was the inspiration for the heart leaf collection. Needless to say, their tree is a little bigger than mine, but who’s comparing?!

  • Incredible nature ✨ «
My heart is blessed by you ❤️.

  • I’m on my way to the airport now and I can’t believe it. This whole week has felt like a dream sequence and it hasn’t really hit me yet that it’s all over. Please look forward to lots of reflection posts in the coming week once I’ve had time to decompress and actually process graduation...also I haven’t cried for real yet so I think I’m gonna sob as soon as I see my mom back in Winnipeg ahah //
