  • The Masjid Dimaukom or Pink Mosque. The mosque was painted pink to symbolize peace and love and was built by workmen to symbolize unity and inter-faith brotherhood.

  • After more than 20 years, I'm thrilled to have returned over the weekend to my father's birthplace and #Basilan province's new capital, #LamitanCity, which may be easily and safely explored even as a day trip from Zamboanga City (2 hours by ro-ro ferry). A must-see spot is #BulinganFalls cascading down a 20-foot wall of basalt columns, located only 30 mins away by habal-habal (motorbike) from the city proper. Its name was derived from 'buling' or dirt in reference to the turbid quality of its waters, which according to local lore, became so after a heartbroken woman bathed in the river a long time ago. Some believe her vengeful spirit still resides here, occasionally taking the lives of male visitors who take a swim. So, guys, it's best not to be rowdy at this waterfall! 💦 #AbanteLamitan #TourismLamitan #ARMMazing #itsmorefuninthephilippines #philippines #Lamitan

  • I believe in what Eleanor Roosevelt said, that "The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” .
.
If someone will ask me what my greatest adventure is. My answer will definitely be " being with these 23 ambassadors, because we all treasured and shared memories together in BASILAN." .
-

People keep on hesitating to visit the area because of it being branded by media as a place of insurgency and chaos. They fail to tell a story beyond this narrative and in return we are not able to see how vivid and stunning Basilan is. The place is not only blessed with beautiful white sand beaches and awesome falls but is also a home to a resilient community.
-
To the Governor of Basilan Hon. Jim Hataman Salliman and Hon. Vice Gov. Yusop Alano, thank you for keeping us safe! .
-
To Hon. Vice Mayor Jul Hataman, thank you for allowing us to visit Tinuse island.

And to all the staff of Tourism Office from different municipalities thank you for the escort. -

So if you want to experience the most of it, be one of us and help redefine Basilan.

  • Nanay Salip's very own creation of the most favorite cracker in Simunul, the "KOROPOK" (tastes like kropek, but this one is the best and not salty). The following picture is the process of making a koropok from cutting/drying to packing and delivering it to their resellers (the Badjao's) using a small boat by your's truly, and of course, Tatay Ammad.

Plus, other sweet treats of Nanay Salip like ice candy, pastil, kalling, etc. and lutong bahay which she happily cooks for us. And yes, they also sell it for living!

Then right after delivering koropok's, we got 2 giants squids for just 100 pesos! Hehe sulit! Owww, I really love it here! ❤️

  • Masjid Dimaukom: The Pink Mosque in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao
.
This mosque was painted in bright pink not only for attraction but to represent peace and love. A proof showing the other side of Maguindanao province, something really different from what we always hear in the news.
.
Christian workers also helped build this masjid, symbolizing unity and solidarity between Muslims and Christians.
