Heyo, how's it going? So this is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson, It's an underdog story about a girl named Spensa who has to prove herself in this sci-fi society, honestly for a YA novel. This is really leagues ahead.

  • Reading this book I was so happy to finally having found a good romance. I stayed up late because I was on the last few pages and thought it would be lovely to go to sleep on a high. Jane Green built it up so nicely and then she broke my heart and crushed it. I really can not deal with this sort of reality check stories, I am a dreamer, please just let me dream 😫.
"Falling" is a beautiful love story of Emma and Dominic. Emma is a banker who gives up the life of high society with extravagant life style and moves to the suburbs looking for a quiet stress free life while finding passion with a business of her own as an interior designer. Unexpectedly she falls in love with Dominic who is not only her landlord with a six years old son, but also a carpenter/barman who has never left the place where he was born and hasn't got any ambitious of his own. Needless to say, they are not the pair her parents or the world around them would match together but they feel this connection beyond explanation. Dominic finally is in a relationship he has always dreamed of and Emma falls in love for the very first time and begins to believe in possibilities she less and less envisioned for herself.
Without saying much/trying not to,this book made me think of the way different people come in and out of our lives. Some come to stay for a long time(some are a blessing and others perhaps more of a curse😂); some are in and out unnoticed; and some come in and change your whole life in a flash and as all pieces begin to finally fall into place, they leave you again...confused and lost, irreparably broken. When it happens this way, I believe, the purpose of that person in our life was greater than, there was an important essential mission and once that is fulfilled, the person is out of our life in that special way.
...
Before I start sounding crazy and stop making sense, I will stop. Read the book if you wish, truly is a very easy read and if you wish it too, message me when you are done and we can share our experiences from it and I will tell you what the mission was😉.
I am off to recover now 😘.

  • What’s one of your quirks?

Everyone has at least one habit, be it endearing or maddening, that sets them apart.

What’s yours?

Do you have to unplug all the appliances before you go to sleep?

Take a ridiculously long time washing your hair?

Must have coffee within 20 minutes of waking or become a raging inferno?

Come on, make me smile this morning with one of the things that makes YOU unique!

My quirk (besides the one about coffee) is in the comments.
📚mirror, mirror: vain character ~ Celeste, you are exactly the kind of vain character I love to hate!
📚favourite prop #allthebooksapril19 ~ that would have to be my book crown!
📚great power, great responsibility #storieswithstephapr19 ~ being the future queen would require responsibility.
📚book you like to reread #aprilinbooks19 ~ this whole trilogy has been an enjoyable reread!
📚still obsessed with #aprilbookstagram18 ~ royalty.
📚books that spark joy #bookqueensapril19 ~ the dresses on these covers always make me smile.

  • The books I’ve finished during April!! I’ve been so proud of myself for reading when I say I’m going to and completing these stories.
The series is wonderful and Ellen Hopkins used to be my all time favorite author when I was in high school. So definitely a throw back. Then blue like jazz is one that I’ve been recommended many times and never really got around to it. Excellent book!! And then the final book, God, was wonderful. So informative as far as where God comes from and the history of the first humans and their spiritual/religious tendencies and humans desire to humanize god and make him small so we can comprehend better. It was excellent. I definitely recommend!!!

  • Hellooo everyone! It’s been a bit since I’ve posted. Before I forget, I’m just going to say now that I’m going to be a bit busy during the beginning of May, so I’ll probably be posting more intermittently! But don’t worry. you’ll see me still pop up once in a while!
•
-A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas-
Okay guys. Tomorrow is the release of ACOFAS, and how excited are you? I didn’t order my copy yet (since I’m on a book buying ban and I’m waiting until I at least finish ACOWAR), but I’m still in love with that cover! That said, I am making plans to read ACOMAF this month, so hopefully I’ll be able to read it and enjoy all it’s gloriousness! Also, the page I’m flipped to is the first page we ever meet Rhysand, and I still love it to bits!

So, this month I actually read a good amount considering all the work I also had to do! Here’s the books I read:
• Cress by Marissa Meyer
• Winter by Marissa Meyer
• To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
• Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett
I would say my favorite was either Winter or To Kill a Kingdom! Both were so good!
•
I’m going to do a super quick tag! I was tagged by the lovely @pagesenchanted to do the #top3fandomsmerch tag!
📚 Grishaverse
📚 ACOTAR
📚 All of Marie Lu’s books

All right, have a lovely day everyone! I’ll see you all in May!

Finishing up April having only read one book, The Ganga Shift (full review below)! Wasn't a great reading month for me but I've been so busy that I don't really mind and I can hopefully catch up on my reading challenge during the summer. How many books did you read in April?

Review:
While reading, I was surprised with an easy-to-digest book more focused on hunting each other (kind of giving me Hunger Games vibes) than a prison story that I was initially expecting.

My favourite part of this book by far was the characters. I enjoyed how they all felt unique both from each other and from characters in other books. From the stubborn Isabella to the secretly caring Shannon to the mysterious Chase, everyone contrasted each other and added to the story. However, I did find the romances with Isabella to feel very superficial and it seemed to move too fast without any real basis.

I think one of the things that I didn't enjoy about this book is that it never felt suspenseful and I didn't really feel compelled to keep reading until the very end. This may just be me, though, and the fact that, in general, I find it hard to get swept away by thriller novels.

While I enjoyed the addition of multiculturalism through talking about various aspects of Hinduism and making the main character East Asian, some of the ways that Isabella was talked about made me feel really uncomfortable and borderline exotic fetish-y (especially the Amazon blurb). Overall, though, I still enjoyed reading this book and I am sure that fans of thrillers/suspense/survival novels would enjoy it much more than I did. .
If you want to know more about what I thought, check out my Goodreads, linked in my bio!

  • QOTD: HOW IS APRIL OVER?!? I cannot even. This last week just completely ran away with me. I have a big wonderful to do list of stuff I want to get done and I just can't seem to find the time 🤷🏻‍♀️.
------
Two things before I get into my wrap ups: 1. My first ever giveaway is closed. Thank you so damn much to everyone who entered. I still can't believe it was a popular as it was. I will have a winner selected by no later than Friday (5/4). 2. Tomorrow is my two year anniversary with this account. Damn. I started writing the caption for my anniversary picture and immediately started crying because of what this account has come to mean to me. So stay tuned for me getting all sappy and real tomorrow!

#bookreadhappyhour & #bookqueensapril18 & #aprilbookishgirls & #aprilbookstagram18 | #wrapup | I read so many books this month compared to what I usually do. Thanks to the two readathons I joined in on. I hope to do more readathons in the future!! Vicious was my favorite read of the month by far. These Broken Stars (buddy read with the lovely @beverageandbook) and Caraval (buddy read with the awesome @cosybookcorner) are tied for 2nd. The Case for Jamie was a close 3rd. Mask of Shadows was 4th. The Wicked Deep was 5th. The Last Namsara I haven't finished yet but will soon (I hope). And An Enchantment of Ravens and Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea were DNFs.
------
Swipe to see my April haul or at least as much of my haul as I can remember. Some good books coming up in my future.

  • Hello, Book Hoarders! Happy #StackSaturday! What are your plans for today? Feelin’ these blues, but not in a sad way 😉💙. The weather is so nice and I’m out with my mom and aunt for some shopping!
.
I’m so happy that Beni @bookbeau sent me this Book Beau Bean for my birthday. I’ve been legit using it every night and I’ve been falling asleep much faster and so well. Plus reading books is so much more comfortable! I can’t thank you enough, B! I love it so much. Might need to get this in Sunshine too 💙💛.
.
Also, HUGE thanks to @quirkbooks for sending me a copy of My Lady’s Choosing. It’s a book where you are the protagonist and get to pick who your love interest is, and which situation you want to be in. It is so much fun being able to control the plot. I’m probably gonna try and go through all the different selections. If you haven’t tried a Choose-Your-Own-Story/Interactive Novel style of book, this is a good place to start!

#AprilBookstagram18: World you want to live in | #AprilWithLeni: Dumbledore’s Army | #AprilInBooks18: Aesthetic Fictional Setting
Had to put Order of the Phoenix here so I could say the magical world. Preferably post-Voldemort!
.
#DreamBunnyBookishAnniversary: Small Business Shoutout! Quick shout out to @riddlesteashoppe who has the most amazing prints that I love photographing as backdrops or focus-pieces. Juli, you already know I’m patiently waiting for them Doctor Who prints! (You can use BOOKHOARDER10 for 10% off her shop! Make sure to follow Juli for updates on when the shop reopens)
.
What’s the most aesthetically pleasing fictional setting?

  • “Sure I do,” countered Lila cheerfully. “There’s Dull London, Kell London, Creepy London, and Dead London,” she recited, ticking them off on her fingers. “See? I’m a fast learner.”

What London do you think you’d live in? I definitely think I’m a Red London kinda girl. Though buzzfeed told me I belonged in Black London 😩😂

Thank you Ruthie @dustandpages for sending this absolutely gorgeous pin! I’m just loving all of these enamel pins everywhere! I need to collect them ALL.
