  • •So many thanks•

The Opening Reception was memorable on so many levels from the artists that created original artworks, to the artists on stage, to the wearable art show, the live screen-printing, the open bar, and to top it all off the amazing crowd that came out to support our vision and enjoy the festival’s opening night!! We had so much fun sharing our first night with you, Philadelphia! Today is even more jam-packed with live music beginning at noon and it’s free today so bring your family, bring your friends, bring your coworkers, bring a stranger you just met on the El, bring em all! We want to see you today! It’s art, it’s music, it’s culture, and you better believe it’s good vibes only! 🎬 @beaumondeoriginals 🎼 @fried_monk

TRFE Alum share their creations and experiences in the room from previous years. Ben Howard “last year I really focused on the idea of making a landscape. A lot of times I lose the idea of depth of field and distance when I paint. I wanted to attempt to illustrate some atmospheric perspective by using broad strokes of vibrant color. By using some recognizable items in the composition I established foreground and background in between expressive paint”. #tbt #trfe19 #anelephantneverforgets #alum #experience #culture #philly #phillartists #tinyroomforelephants #art #art_feature #instagood

  • "Take Care" by Caity-Shea Violette focuses itself on a time before the nation turned its attention to the opioid epidemic, chronic pain patients and the people who loved them had long experienced the consequences of over prescription. Once the impact was addressed, they faced the new challenge of abrupt changes in their care plans aimed to get people off of medications they never should have been given for long-term use. Take Care explores the impact this has on a marriage where 'in sickness' loses the certainty of 'in health' leaving a woman desperate to be free from her pain.

  • I have never been so excited about something and then so quickly disappointed and heart broken. I recently learned there is an Elephant Preserve close to Fredricksberg which you can visit. I was so excited to find this out I immediately emailed the preserve to find out the cost of a visit and even asked if they had any job openings, because working with elephants would be a dream job for me! They actually emailed me back saying they would need some help soon! I then starting looking up more info about the preserve as I do with any potential job and found some pretty disturbing information. The Hill Country Elephant preserve was formally called Have Trunk Will Travel in California. California banned the use of Bullhooks on Elephants so Have Trunk Will Travel changed its name to Hill Country Elephant Preserve and moved to StoneWall in between Fredricksberg and Austin. While Austin has banned BullHooks, Texas has not so they can still and still do use them on their elephants at the preserve. Not only this but they still have their elephants preform tricks, paint, and from what I saw on Instagram let some people ride these elephants. THIS IS NOT a true preserve. It takes an incredible amount of cruelty to get an elephant to perform and while elephants are giant they are not meant for people to ride. It can cause them pain and again takes a lot of abuse to get them submissive enough to ride. Please if you live in the Austin Area or visit do not go here! If you are planning a visit to see some elephants anywhere in the world do your research first to make sure it is a true sanctuary for elephants and that they are being ethnically treated. 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
