In field sports, such as soccer, it's important to develop Speed. But it's also important to learn how to stop and change direction.

Those that don't practice this are going to seem slower on the field, even if they can sprint fast. Also, they are at a higher risk of straining their groins, as the muscles aren't used to the amount of direction changes required in practice and games.
