  • Happy Friday Everyone!! This week was not good week for training and only got in a little bit of miles. 4 miles on Thursday & 3 miles for today and that’s it for this week πŸ‘ŽπŸ» But I did register for another race at the last minute for this Sunday. I was gonna be out there anyways and since a lot of my friends are running it, I decided why not run it with them and use it towards my training run. Who says you can’t use races for training, right πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ So I’ll be running the Half n Half on Sunday & the reason it’s called Half n Half, is because you can do half marathon on Trail & half marathon on road to make a marathon & you get both medals to connect them or you can do only the half, but you only get 1/2 of the medal. So here’s a little #flashbackfriday pics from the 2 years that I ran the full for this race. If you look at the next pic, you will see the medal up close & how they connect. But this year, I am only doing the half. I know, I will only get 1/2 of the medal 😩 Hope everyone has a great weekend & good luck to everyone running this weekend!! (Shoes @altrarunning )

This weekend I did the doubler and I love running with my friends/family & hanging out w/ everyone before & after races. (Will Post all the pics w/ everyone later) No PR for me on either race, but for me this weekend was all about having fun, seeing everyone and running with friends/family off & on through the course. I did finish at 2:24 on Sunday & on Saturday my finish time was 30:09. I have a lot of pictures & will post them all in another post later.   • Tuning out + tuning in 😌 // about this time last year, I wasn't really sure what the interim between my otq and and trials would hold. I planned a nice progression through a track season, then back up in distance with some competitive fall racing. I thought I would be running a lot of miles while honing my speed and racing skills. Of course, most of this didn't happen - which is probably for the best! Instead, I've been honing my patience and resilience skills through an injury and considerable stress while turning the corner into the last year of my doctoral program. I'm learning it takes very conscious and constant effort to tune out the influence of others and tune in to hear what your body/mind/life need in any moment. Keeping this in mind as I turn another corner to my olympic trials build-up, the goal is still the same: keep your head up and wings out and go kill it in everything you do. πŸ“Έ @ brent

  • Beer & Bagel Run - Trail/Road - Nebraska 2019 β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’ Drove up to Nebraska to run the Beer & Bagel run and had a lot of fun. This was my first time doing this race and I thought it was fun & challenging. So this race had everything from road to trail to grass to golf course to sidewalk to trail to water crossing to sidewalk to trail, ok you get what I mean lol. Of course you had your hills and down hills. They had an awesome after party #hoedown (Food, BEER, Entertainment, & games).     Drove up to Nebraska to run the Beer & Bagel run and had a lot of fun. This was my first time doing this race and I thought it was fun & challenging.   • TOUR of ST GEORGE 🚲 🍁 πŸ’― Last minute decision. Will my #ra body hold up? πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I need a friend. Want to join the party @ashkickn1 ? πŸ₯³ Total mayhem at the start. Trying not to crash. 😳 Give me some space!! Cold AF. Shivering uncontrollably. πŸ₯Ά Where did Ash go?! Ahead or behind? 😩 Finally. Some good hills. Field spreads out. Time to climb. β›° Good little group but - gotta pee + find Ash! Pit stop. Pee + phone check. πŸ’© πŸ’© Ash has major mechanical and is out. On my own now. 😭 Gimme some tunes + hills - that’s my jam! πŸ•ΊπŸΌ 🎢 Find a couple of badass girls to ride with. This is it! This is what I love! Taking pulls with strong ladies! πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ Lasts 10 minutes. Refuel stop in Veyo. ⛽️ I get impatient + take off. Knees are feeling it. Better to ride smooth + solo than enjoying a draft but have to surge. 😞 Solo riding as usual. Should’ve waited. Getting bored. πŸ˜‘ Hopefully they catch me soon.... 10 more miles... 5 more miles... πŸ₯΅ Fine. Hope they DON’T catch me now! I realize this is NOT a race but hey! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Steep hill into town. Badass girl @ashkline25 passes me! 1/4 mile to go. She’s gunning for it. So am I. We both laugh. This is fun!! πŸ’₯ Finish line sprint. Sprinting for what?! Who cares?? For the hell of it. Yass!! πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ GOOD TIMES. Friendly chats. Yummy lunch. Off to the soccer field... ⚽️ Huge thanks to @ride_southern_utah for a great and super well organized event! Had a blast. 🎈 Even bigger thanks to @ashkickn1 for signing us up at the last second.   • Looking up. 🌞 We always want to keep improving - to get faster, stronger, more knowledgeable, and overall better adapted to complete our goals. Over the last few months, patience, diligent and focused PT work, and time are allowing my hamstring tendon to heal. Still - every day I catch myself wanting more progress. Sure, I'm finally able to run close to normal volume (!) - but as soon as I feel good about it, a nagging thought reminds me how much faster I've been able to handle this mileage previously. And honestly, those thoughts are always there for me. When I'm succeeding in running, or in work or in whatever, I can always find something to be do better. This can certainly help you improve - you can't get better if you don't know what to work on! But it's all about the tone. Is it a missed expectation making you feel like you're letting yourself down or is it a new challenge to work towards? It's not easy, but we must see our personal critiques as developmental challenges and keep looking up towards them inside of down on yourself. // πŸ“Έ @dancampbellphoto

  • Just a girl trying to decide how to dress for a fall workout πŸ˜… I still struggle with how to dress in cooler temps bc I don't like carrying clothes or leaving them to pick up on the way back. My best tip is to do a warm-up loop so you can drop things off at your house/car. Anyone have other tips for layering?? β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € πŸ“Έ @ brent
