  • Arrayán Premium 2010, DO Méntrida.

La Verdosa es un proyecto vitivinícola que nació en 1999 en Santa Cruz del Retamar, Toledo. Se extiende por 26 hectáreas cultivadas en ecológico, fruto de un exhaustivo estudio geoclimático, y cuenta con la más moderna tecnología de elaboración. La zona es de clima continental y suelos arenosos bien drenados.

Arrayán Premium es el vino top de la bodega, un coupage de syrah 60%, Cabernet sauvignon 15%, merlot 15% y Petit Verdot 10%, en el que tras la vendimia y selección manual, cada variedad se vinifica por separado.

Para su elaboración se realiza un encubado por gravedad, maceración prefermentativa, y fermentación con levaduras autóctonas en pequeños depósitos de inoxidable durante 35 días a temperatura controlada. La fermentación maloláctica se lleva a cabo en barricas de roble, donde realiza posteriormente una crianza de 15 meses.

A la vista, tiene un color rojo cereza de capa media y ribete atejado.

Compleja nariz con aromas de fruta negra muy madura, cacao, pimiento verde, compota de tomate y un suave fondo de cedro.

En boca presenta una moderada acidez, tanino muy pulido, paso sedoso y elegante, buen volumen y larga persistencia con recuerdos de fruta negra, tabaco, especias y tostados.

Marida bien con platos de carne estofada y a la brasa.

Un vino elegante y complejo, cuya acidez nos aconseja consumir en el menor plazo posible.

  • Un Primitivo (riserva) che, a mio modesto parere, sa il fatto suo, lontano anni luce dalla iper-speziatura e terziarizzazione di alcuni suoi fratelli più o meno noti e (menomale) senza una nota alcolica spropositata che spesso rende questo vitigno, nel calice, di non facilissima beva. 
Marpione Riserva 2015, Tenute Viglione. Ci troviamo nella Doc Gioia del Colle, sulle Murge, nella zona più alta della denominazione, il che significa, in questo caso, ottima esposizione e grandi escursioni termiche. Due anni di affinamento in botte grande e quattro mesi di barrique (purtroppo non ho trovato dati relativi alla vinificazione) prima di arrivare in bottiglia. 👀 Rubino fitto con orlo granato, gran bella consistenza; 👃 balsamico con una cornice di frutti di bosco ancora freschi e fragranti; macchia mediterranea, balle di fieno con un sottofondo di liquirizia. 👄 tannino dolce; di buona freschezza; Sapido e nel complesso equilibrato; potente ed elegante allo stesso tempo, leggermente boisé con una nota di vaniglia che ‘giustamente’ compensa i sentori piacevolmente ‘agricoli’. La persistenza è più che buona. 
Una splendida espressione di Primitivo, in cui la ottima struttura va di pari passo con la bevibilità. Soddisfatto! 🍷

Originally from Nanticoke, PA, she moved to Arizona in August to follow her passion and work in a wine industry that has lots of potential. As she puts it, "I chose wine or maybe wine chose me". So she attended the Wine School of Philadelphia where she received her sommelier certification. After that she worked as a cellar intern in California for a few years. Recently, she decided to further her Wine education and is working on getting her Enology certification (study of all things wine and wine-making). The reason she loves wine is the way it is able to bring people together. Which we couldnt agree more with!

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, black plums, oak, licorice, vanilla, cola, dark chocolates, tobacco, black pepper, earth and Indian spices.

Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruity with blackberries, black currants, oak, light vegetables, vanilla, coffee, spices, peppercorn, leather and tobacco.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very enjoyable Syrah from California. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, but better after 90 minutes of airtime. As it opens up, lots of coffee and chocolate notes come in, which is very nice to see.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

Already drinking well, but will be better in the next 3 to 5 years.

Nicely balanced, interesting and engaging. I especially enjoyed the nose here.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

A blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier. Aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.

15% alcohol by volume.

90 points. $40. .
