  • Made the drive to stock up on quartersawn cherry. It’s an Amish establishment that knows how to dominate a piece of wood. The owner designed the mill...it’s wild. #sawmill #slabs #walnut #wood #lumber

  • Looking at this image really makes me miss my old truck. I saved up enough money to find my perfect 2004 Toyota Tacoma last year and finally pulled the trigger in the summer. It changed my life having a truck to go back and forth to my shop in queens and being able to deliver pieces and bring in raw material from storage without having to rent a van. Unfortunately, only about a month or so after I got it, someone did an illegal u-turn and smashed right into the drivers side of my car, completely totaling it. It left me with no truck, a concussion and some crippling exhaustion, numb hand and fingers and back problems. It opened up my eyes to the insurance companies and how even though I had insurance they only provided me with a rental car for 8 days and a settlement that made it almost impossible to find a comparable car. The good news is I was able to find a new truck after a few months of searching (all that time without a car, extending and paying for my own rental and also I was in between apts hence being far from my workplace). I’m finally feeling clear-headed after months of weirdness and fog from the concussion and happy. I think this a good example of how insurance companies take advantage of us and how our society needs to change. I’m lucky enough to have family and friends who helped me through my tough time, but what about those less fortunate who now wouldn’t have a car to get to work and couldn’t make it to PT because they couldn’t afford not to work. Times like this should make us think about what we want for the future in our country. I hope this small story can help us think about that, there are countless with more.
