  • Lawwwwd, let’s collectively drop 💯 because it’s true!!!⠀
⠀
You deserve pursuit, you deserve love, and you deserve consistency. Don’t let your experience tell you any different. ⠀
⠀
I’ve been packing and getting ready for a major move, but this resonates with me today. ⠀
⠀
I usually share things from my past, but this one is relevant to today. ⠀

It’s ok for healers to hurt, let’s just remember what we’re worth and keep moving!! 💛💛💛

  • “Perhaps witches are really just women who refused to cede themselves to The Patriarchy. Perhaps they were and are women who rightfully recognize themselves just as much a part of nature as the trees and the grass, who know to listen to their bodies, who feel no shame in their sexual expression.” — Femi O.

Embracing my inner Sex Witch after listening to that fire episode of @theliturgists podcast with @iamjamieleefinch ✨💁🏾‍♀️💫🔮
✨
I was inspired by it to re-share two pieces I’ve written on my own journey towards self-love and embodiment this week. The first is “Powerful and Divine”, a discussion of my 2016 Halloween costume where I chose to be a witch (pictured) sans pointy hat and warted nose, instead a woman self possessed, in tune with her body and the earth in a way that shakes the very foundations of patriarchal structure. The second is “Treatise on the Body”, a piece that highlights Biblical language that paints the body (“flesh”) as something to be conquered, resisted, and ultimately destroyed in the sweet by and by, and how that fucked us all up and is antithetical to growth or self-love of any kind. You can find both by following the link in my bio 👩🏾‍💻
✨
The body is beautiful, her desires are good, and I am learning everyday that loving her is loving myself.
✨
How have you travelled on your journey with your body? What do you believe about your physical manifestation? What are you letting go?

“Sharing your stories helps other people feel seen and heard,” says Robin Thede (@robinthede), creator of @ablackladysketchshow (pictured right).⁣
⁣
“I came up with the name ‘The Black Lady Sketch Show’ when I created the series because I didn’t want there to be any confusion about what people were watching,” says Robin. “Then we changed it to ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ so that we didn’t single ourselves out as the only one. That simple change to “A” means that we’re one of possibly many black lady sketch shows, which would be a dream come true!”⁣
⁣
The best part of #ABLSS for Robin? “Working with all these amazing black women,” she says. “Writers, our director, our cast, our guest stars… and of course, (pictured left) Issa Rae (@issarae).” #ShareBlackStories
