  • Crushin on my hair and skin 😍 It’s farrrrrr from perfect, but I’ve been seeing major improvements lately. The sunshine and beachy salt water is helping me overcome plateaus that I’ve been stuck on. I’ve been using @urbanveda purifying wash followed by the purifying oil and I love how minty and fresh it feels. I drink more coconut water than water, drink cleansing herbal teas like red clover and burdock root daily, eat a very high raw fruit diet, and keep a low stress lifestyle and environment. I’m battling hormonal imbalances which I believe are the effects of being on birth control for 14 years!!!😭 In my hair I’ve been using only @cantubeautyuk @cantubeauty curl creme and then braiding or twisting my hair to lock the creme in and to keep pollutants out. Also, it keeps my Daughter from pulling it🙃I’ve also been washing with only @bragglivefoodproducts Apple Cider Vinegar and let me just tell you-ITS AMAZING!!! My hair feels so fresh and so clean, but yes, it’s smells vinegary. Personally, I don’t care enough, but I’m sure you could whip together some essential oils and butters to make your hair smell nice afterwards. It’s a journey and when you heal naturally it can take time, but today I’m feeling happy with the progress of my hair and skin💚I promise there’s a long list of blog posts for me to write to share more with you about natural birth control, the effects of synthetic birth control, hair care, food, EVERYTHING, but my little girl is 17 months and she’s priority🙏🏾She keeps me very busy, but I’ll share on my blog just as soon as I’m able. One of the most questions I get asked is how to lose fat, weight etc. I like to think of it has fat loss vs weight loss. WHY? Because the scale can move for several different reasons. .
.
1️⃣Now how to lose fat. Of course number 1 thing is nutrition. Never avoid your nutrition. You can track your macros to get a sense of portion sizes and eventually intuitive eat( what I currently do). You don’t have to track macros I personally learned a lot from it. It’s also a good way to see the calorie you are intaking. Nutrition shouldn’t be about restricting yourself or not being able to eat the foods you love. You can eat the foods you love and still have a healthy lifestyle. Being in calorie deficit is literally the number one thing your body needs to be in to lose fat. Proteins, veggies, carbs and fats should all be included in your meals .

2️⃣Weight training>> believe it or not.. this helps with your journey to fat loss and not doing cardio 24/7. .
.
3️⃣Adding some cardio>> I tend to do cardio twice weekish.. and I tend to do HIIT workouts ( high intensity interval training ) I enjoy it becomes its fast and effective. Helps me  get my cardio in quickly (10 minutes) and helps increase my metabolism .

4️⃣ Eating enough protein. Consuming at least 1gram of protein per bodyweight. ( ex . I’m 140lbs I will consume around 140g of protein a day) .

5️⃣ Good quality sleep! The simplest thing of having a good nights sleep can do wonders for a body. It needs rest👏🏽 ________________________________________________

  • Nothing like a nice pair of high waisted tights to give your #postpartumbody a boost of confidence! I’m now 5 months #postpartum and still nowhere near where I was before my pregnancy. I’m still 3 lbs away from pre-baby weight but more importantly my body composition just isn’t what it used to be. My core is weak and I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass from the pregnancy and I know it will take time to build it back up again. And honestly it’s also hard for me to look at my belly 😔. Lately, I’ve been feeling so “blah” about working out. Now that spring has sprung, the sunshine and warmer weather is giving me a new found motivation. I always feel the need to mix up my workouts to keep it fun and interesting. So I joined the @f45_burlingtondowntown crew recently and really enjoy the workouts, the music and the community. You’re also constantly doing a different workout everyday so it’s never boring! For me, working out has to be FUN or else I just won’t do it. It also helps when you have a buddy system to keep you accountable. My buddy is my husband Rob. Even though we don’t workout together anymore, he keeps me accountable and pushes me to go workout even though some days I don’t even want to. It’s also his time to spend alone and bond with Kate.

I was around 11 or 12 when a male classmate asked me this question.⁣⁣
It wasn't until my late 20's before I stopped zeroing in on my upper lip in the mirror.⁣⁣
Guys that's FIFTEEN years.⁣⁣
I allowed one statement made by a child to torture me for over a decade.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And when I finally came to the realization that having hair on my upper lip didn't mean a damn thing?⁣⁣
I stopped checking. ⁣⁣
I put down the microscope and I rocked my damn mustache.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And now I wonder...⁣⁣
Did I ever REALLY hate that about myself?⁣⁣
Or did i just hate what someone SAID about it?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I am on a similar journey in regards to my postpartum body image, as i know a lot of you are on too.⁣⁣
I feel like I need to say this:⁣⁣
We are only as beautiful as WE allow ourselves to feel.⁣⁣
Regardless of what someone else may say.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, PLEASE! ⁣⁣
Stop brushing off compliments and try to internalize them!⁣⁣
Stop allowing unnecessary shame to distort your vision!⁣⁣
Your body is a living map of your life's journey!⁣
Don't you want to remember it all?⁣
Don’t you want to celebrate it?

  • I love pizza! But I don’t love the crazy amount of calories in it (approx 300 calories per slice) and I don’t find it super filling either. Solution: Eggplant pizza to the rescue!😍

Super easy to make, just slice the eggplant into rounds and top like any other pizza 🤗 bake at 350 for 25 mins (or until soft but not super mushy 😅) approximately 60 calories per slice...not bad! This is a nutrient rich alternative to pizza that will leave you feeling full and satisfied 😊

  • ‘‘Tis the season of snacking on mama’s hair. Can we just take a second and talk about the #postpartum hair loss? I’m not sure if it’s because I have such long hair or because this is my 4th post partum journey in 5 years but the hair loss is insane this time around. Rest assured if you see my hair stuck to my clothes I’ve probably already addressed the issue half a dozen times already that day. I’m aware it’s there I just CANNOT KEEP UP with it. I’m so often checking this little guy’s fingers and toes to make sure they are free of my loose long locks. 
Also, spring sun and little sons... a couple of my favorites. ☀️

  • Some of my friends have labeled my birth story and post-partum complications as a horror movie. 😔 I just re-read the letter of complaint I wrote to the hospital where I delivered and thankfully it didn't give me anxiety this time, but reading over the details gave me sad flashbacks. I appreciate articles like this one which address such an important topic. I can relate to this mother's story and fears. If you're interested in reading it, message me and I will send you the link. Having a traumatic birth or post-partum complications can affect you for a long time (physically and emotionally). It's been 8 months and I have come so far from the hot mess I was the first few months but I am nowhere near recovered. I'm brave and strong but let's get real - you don't face death and bounce right back. I'm learning to be patient with myself...all over again. Unlike infertility, I couldn't find anyone who could relate to my specific experience (not including preeclampsia), so I chose faith-based counseling. 🙏 Thank God for that option of support. Sometimes our peace is found simply in recognizing all that God has brought us through before and knowing that the current giant we face is not too big for Him! Immediately after i buckled down and went back to strict keto and lost 18lbs. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism before pregnancy and have always struggled with low blood sugar. My lifestyle allows me to over come all excuses and obstacles and be the best me I can be !! I have not yet started my workout regimen until I’m cleared by my doctor. Patience is a virtue ! But I can’t wait to start challenging myself yet again with the second half of this transformation 💙

    Registration is open for CORE RESTORE! Maria Schuba, our pre and postnatal fitness specialist will guide you through a 6 week registered program for moms and moms-to-be. Designed with the pre and postnatal body in mind, we will gradually strengthen your body with safe and effective exercises. Each class will focus on core and pelvic floor muscles as we build strength with safe full body exercises. If you are not sure how to get back into exercise or are experiencing pelvic floor dysfunctions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, we will focus on exercises that can help with healing your postnatal body. ⠀

    Breathing and alignment will be highlighted as we build your strength back from the inside out. We will incorporate a circuit workout using resistance bands and dumbbells to build your strength so you can get back to doing the things that you LOVE! ⠀

    This is a supportive environment where you don't have to choose between self care and a babysitter! (children welcome!) ⠀

  • Yesss!!! I got to work with what maybe my favorite team in the world is ! Everytime i go over to them , i come back with even more energy then i walked in with . We always have 1 or more ideas , sometimes a location or styling . But this was litterly just having fun in the kitchen! And everytime the results are breathtaking . To be honest , after goving birth i looked at my body totally different, not that i look ugly now , but workwise you know .i gained alot weight (around 25 kgs!!) but with sam and tine , it’s like they have these magic wands that show you how beautiful stuff can be !   • Weekends are for pancakes! I was up early with Baby G so I figured why not surprise the family with pancakes for breakfast! Maybe it was getting 4 hours of sleep last night but woke up feeling amazing (although I've been feeling pretty good in general).

Busy day here, and just life is busy in general and still trying to adjust so pretty much just going with the flow. We were gone most of the day yesterday with a baby appt and newborn photos. We have family coming over to see the baby and then I'm hoping to get out for a walk or enjoy this beautiful spring day. The girls both have plans tonight I think we're going to grab take-out and chill here since it's our anniversary, still haven't decided. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
