Damian Lillard has established himself as one of the top PG’s in the game of basketball today. He has hit some of the most iconic playoff shots not only in the history of the Portland Trailblazers but also in the history of the NBA. 🤩
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In his career in the NBA, Dame has averaged
23.5 PTS 🏀
4.2 TRB 💪
6.3 AST 🤝
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He is a certified bucket, nearly impossible to guard. ⭐️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, did you know that coming out of high school he was ranked a 2 star prospect?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lillard has been underestimated almost his entire career. He didn’t get recruited by the major universities, as a matter of fact he wasn’t heavily recruited at all out of high school at all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even though the recruiters may not have seen his ability, Damian had a dream to play in the NBA and he was willing to put the work in to achieve his dream. 💪
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Damian went on to played 3 seasons at Weber State. He got the opportunity and showed up. He was the Big Sky freshman of the year averaging 11.5 ppg. He kept putting work in and by his junior year he was averaging 24.5 ppg. 👀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This led him to forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NBA Draft where he was selected 6th overall by the Portland Trailblazers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The rest is history. ✊
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t be afraid to dream. However, don’t promote your dream if you’re not willing to put the work in to achieve it. 👊
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There have been a lot of “5 Star Recruits” who haven’t come close to the career of the 2 Star Damian Lillard. So if you have a dream don’t let anyone crush it. Work for it. 😤

  • BREAKING: Washington Wizards All-Star Bradley Beal has agreed to extend his deal for two years on a $72M maximum contract, agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports tells ESPN. Deal includes player option for 2022-23 season. Leonsis/Sheppard sold Beal on a Wiz future, and specter of trade talk goes away now. Major implications inside/outside the Beltway.

So often players want to know the right way to shoot the basketball...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The important thing to remember is that there have been many players with unique shot mechanics that have been good shooters at the highest level. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shawn Marion has one of the most unique shot mechanics that the NBA has ever seen and still he was a career 33% three point shooter.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This proves that there is no 100% correct way to shoot. If you put the time in you can hit shots. 👍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Looking at 4 of the Top 5 greatest 3pt shooters according to many different statistics, you can see that there are some pretty common mechanics that the best use.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Notice their guide hand placement to the side of the ball, it is almost identical.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Notice their shooting hand under the ball which leads to their elbow placement under the ball, it’s almost identical.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having consistent guide-hand placement and keeping your shooting hand and elbow under the ball are two of the key components of good shot mechanics. 🧐
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Study the greats.
Perfect the mechanics.
Become a knock down shooter. 💪
