  • I love this because it is exactly how I feel about Monday’s!! A ripe new chance for a fresh start.  Everyday and every moment naturally provides that, of course, but a brand new week is a great chance to reset your energy and restart your life. 
An especially good Monday to refresh is one such as today, when we are still in full moon energy!  Monday is sacred to the moon, and today’s Full Moon is in Aries no less which is the first sign of the zodiac, cardinal and initiating, with all the warmth of fiery blaze.  Perfect time to release and be set free into a new day, new week, new lunation and new life. 
So go let every Monday be the gorgeous and inspiring new beginning that it is!

Never blame yourself for your progress. Errors in judgment are a vital part of the evolution of your design.

  • I have a confession to make. I’m not practicing what I preach. I’m a therapist who is not buying what I’m selling. And it’s super frustrating. 
I stay anxious and irritable, trying to control the what if’s and future problems that fuel my anxiety. Not utilizing mindfulness practice and gratitude like I preach .

I let negative self talk and my own personal judgements feed my insecurities. I play the comparison game and I’m really good at reminded myself about all the areas I fall short. I don’t embrace self acceptance.

I often feel compelled to give and give, then wonder why I’m so tired all the time. So overwhelmed all the time. So damn tapped all the time. I’m not implementing self care and good boundaries like I advocate for my clients. 
So. I’m walking the walk, not just talking anymore. I struggle with social media because it contributes to all the things listed above. I’m not allowing the proper light to shine on social media. I decided to start posting positivity every Monday as a mantra for the week. This is a way of reminding myself (and anyone else who struggles as I do) to breathe, practice mindfulness/gratitude, and embrace the dialectic between acceptance and change. There’s a positivity culture that’s alive and well in social media, and I feel a pull to contribute to that. #mindfulmondays #findingbalance

  • MINDFUL MONDAY! Breathe. Anytime you need to center yourself, whether it’s because you‘re excited and have butterflies in your stomach or you’re upset and could scream, take a few slow intentional breaths.

Brooklyn Brownstone Scholars practice centering techniques multiple times a day; first thing in the morning, after lunch, and at the end of the day to ensure that they are ready to learn.  We also practice breathing techniques if we find ourselves in difficult situations that may range from being anxious about a test or we’ve had an argument with a friend.

Deep breathing is is hugely beneficial. It helps to build strength, reduce stress, improve digestion, and more! Take a look  at the 3rd photo for more details!

  • #MindfulMonday - is that a thing? I’m making it a thing. .

So, first - I just wanted to say thank you all for your messages in response to my super long stories (and post!) last week, on #worldmentalhealth day! I honestly was shocked by how many of reached out and talked to me more about your struggles with mental health, to show me support, or even to just say “thank you”. I seriously have the best group of people in my life!! 😭❤️ .

Something that a few of you asked me about was taking steps to be more mindful about where you’re at, mentally. Good days, bad day, deep depressions, etc. one of my biggest helpers in assessing where my mind is at, and helping me keep the depression at bay is meditation! ✨ .

Meditation is so helpful, for SO many things. I was actually very skeptical about its usefulness, but I really didn’t have anything to lose, so I tried it... and it has made a HUGE difference in my mental health. Not only does it help keep me out of the “abyss”, but it really helps me pinpoint things that might trigger it, helps me see how well/poorly I’m doing, and also brings clarity in how to help myself, or ask for help when I need it. ✨ .

Meditation can look vastly different to a variety of people. Some may meditate through prayer to a higher power, some color or draw, others just sit quietly in nature, and other focus their meditation through crystals and manifesting. 🔮📿 There really is no wrong way. The “how” is less important than the doing. When you start meditating, do it for just a couple minutes a day, and just BE. Sit with whatever comes. As you do it more, you’ll be able to expand on that, but to start, just sit in the quiet for a few minutes every morning to start your day a little differently. See if you notice changes in your day! Do you already meditate? Have you noticed any changes in you, or how your days go when do, versus when you don’t? 🧘🏼‍♀️

Today’s #mindfulmonday is a latteeee one, and if your still up and reading this-this one’s for you 💁‍♀️ Sleep. Magical, elusive, sleep. Works miracles on the mind and body- so miraculous in fact, that the brightest minds in the world still don’t even know exactly how much good it does us 😮

Now is not the time of night to be boring anyone with scientific journals, but we assure you, there have been many a study strongly associating sufficient sleep with: 
Mood🥰
Success✨
Fighting illnesses (serious ones, not just colds 🤥)
Improving memory🤓
Muscle recovery 💪
Even making us more attractive 😏

Bottom line is, sort yourself out. Make whatever changes you need to to make sure your getting enough shut eye, which means shutting off your phooonnneeee. If you need help before that there’s cute pets falling asleep on our story🙃

  • Can I get an amen, 🙋‍♀️sister friend?

When we are overtaken by humanness, we see obstacles at face value.... like something in our way.

An annoyance, roadblock, deterrent, trigger... But this is so human to think that what we experience is somehow at random.

Stop devaluing yourself my love. There are no accidents, coincidences, or mistakes.

Every tough time, every kitchen melt down, every perceived failure is the Universe trying to communicate with you.

Have you ever stopped to think that perhaps the guy leaving was sparing you from a lifetime of pain? Or that the job you didn’t get was another reminder to follow the nudge deep down saying “make your own way.” But if you’re too attached to the experience, to the pain of it all, you can’t learn the lesson.

If you’re too entrenched in the emotions, you aren’t available to observe the real reason, purpose, message to be had.

Our ability to thrive in this experience is directly correlated to our willingness to open, observe, and integrate.

But the choice is yours sweet babe.

You can continue to play the ego’s victim song of “why me”, “I’m doomed”, “I’m a failure.” Or you can shape up, snap back into your soul’s intelligence, laugh at the humanness of it all, and accept the adventure.

It can kill you or make you stronger.

It can be your worst enemy or your best friend.

It can be your biggest trauma, struggle, suffering, obstacle.

Or it gets to be your greatest teacher, your soul’s body guard, your salvation, the thing that cracks you open so you can *finally* really see what it’s all about. 👇What do you choose? 👇
