  • GUT HEALING BONE BROTH! 
RECIPE BELOW

Ingredients: 
3 lbs chicken bones 
1-2 onions chopped 
2 carrots peeled and chopped 
3 stalks celery chopped 
1 small head of garlic peeled and smashed
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 
Rosemary 
Thyme 
Parsley 
Ginger (to taste) 
Lemon juice (optional)
Filtered water 
Directions: 
1. Place chicken bones in bottom of crock pot/ slow cooker. Add the rest of the ingredients 
2. Fill the pot with filtered water (leaving 1 inch at the top)
3. Set cooker to low and let cook for about 24 hour
4. After 24 hours allow broth to cool before straining through a fine strainer 
5. Broth can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-5 days or frozen for up to a year!

▪️A big mistake most of us bodybuilders / fitness enthusiasts (whatever adjective you want to use) make or have made is we neglect our gut health.  We are what we eat  We are what we can digest and utilize with efficiency. .

▪️Macros and micros are both VERY important.  But just because you are hitting your #s daily doesn’t really matter if your body can’t use them efficiently.  Nutritionally, everything starts in the gut.  This is why / where “flexible dieting” has its imperfections.  Just because you can fit refined sugars, processed carbs and other bullshit into your diet does not mean it will be as good / optimal as a diet filled with nutrient dense foods that create a HEALTHY environment for food to be PROCESSED OPTIMALLY.

▪️Starve the bad bacteria and feed the good.  Establish a HEALTHY GUT FLORA first.  Set yourself up for an optimal diet phase.  A good place to start is reducing refined sugars and processed garbage, add in some fermented options like kimchi, sauerkraut, some yogurts etc.  Spinach & ginger help lower inflammation as well.

Common persistent feelings such as sadness, worry, dread, panic and hopelessness are simply symptoms. Symptoms are the body’s way of communicating with us, and all symptoms have a root cause (or several) which can be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual in nature. And root causes, once identified, can be addressed so you can feel awesome and be limitless.

Becoming aware of the possible causes is the first step on the path of change, and thats what this episode aims to provide for you. And in future episodes I’ll be delving deeper into many of the causes outlined.

  • Meet Jenny 👇🏽❤️ “In 2008 I was diagnosed with Lupus. In 2014 with #RheumatoidArthritis.  In 2018 with #Crohn’s and was told possible #Celiac. I was already gluten and dairy free so I didn’t do more testing bc I was already doing all I could do. Or so I thought... For years I tried every holistic option possible to heal my body. I went to a holistic clinic and endured 3 rounds of colonix with IV supplements. I have invested $1000s of dollars in probiotics. I was a firm believer of the refrigerated ones. I at one point tried the doctors suggestions and went to a rheumatologist and hematologists - my body is also resistant to iron/ferritin absorption A rare but possible side effect to Lupus. In 2012 out of desperation I filled multiple prescriptions and started on that road. It was worse. I quit all of it within 3 months. Side effects were horrendous. By Sept 2018 I was so sick. I would run fevers almost daily. I was tested 2 times for leukemia bc my cell count was terrible. I was INFLAMED! I was eating right or even minimally. I did allllll the things and still felt like death. But as mom you push though. 
My husband and I for the first time literally hit our knees every night together and cried out to God for a solution. We did this for 6 weeks.   • Stress and sex drive: Our adrenal glands play a key role in libido. Life is so busy, there is so much pressure and difficulties surrounding us (work, social media, juggling relationships, political unsettlement, environmental concerns etc.). When we are stressed, our HPA axis is working in overdrive. When this goes on for a prolonged period we are in a constant state of fight or flight and not in a state of relaxation. As a result of this; sex hormone and thyroid hormone production is neglected alongside increased cortisol and decreased oxytocin, resulting in reduced feelings of intimacy which therefore becomes a vicious circle (put simply: your not horny because your stressed and your stressed because your not producing horny hormones).⁠

How can you dampen down your stress response? This is honestly the hardest part of my job because people find it so difficult to change habits of stress. I will always suggest mindfulness in some form (Sam Harris has a great app with changing daily short mediations) but often people really don't like classical meditation practices so we think carefully about new ways of being mindful that suit the client; painting, drawing, getting off a stop early and listening to calming music, yoga nidra, going out dancing, scheduling in weekly activities (theatre, gallery, walking, favourite restaurant) and TALKING to friends, family and colleagues about how you feel.

  • Odd bits and leftover curry 🙏🏼
I had a big cook up today but found myself with a cup or two of shredded cabbage, 1/2 cup Nomato sauce (homemade beetroot and veg sauce ala @_sarahwilson_ ) and some fermented turmeric paste leftover after placing the rest into my recycled jars.

So I threw all the dreggy bits into the Thermomix with some coconut milk, finely sliced red onion and sprouted chickpeas and cooked on slow and low while I toddler-wrangled Eleanor to bed.

The result was this DELICIOUS curry which was brimming with veg goodness.

For one of those random meals without any forethought, I was thrilled and slightly smug with the end result.
