  • Dad’s day feast 🍭 We had big plans to hit our favorite brunch spot but were told a 90 min wait.... so we doubled back, scrounged in the fridge and found some week-old berries, ancient farmer’s market garlic chive cheddar, a tub of soft goat cheese which we drizzled in hot honey + black pepper.... and sliced up some @olympiaprovisions cured sausage. Solid plan B 🤙🏻 (if not better than plan A ;)

  • Creamy corn chowder, minus the potatoes, plus enough garnish to fill a salad plate on top (peaches, tomatoes, basil, bacon & flake salt). I had to google whether I can really call this a chowder without potatoes (turns out the rules are lax unless you’re serving a wimpy, thin soup which this is not)...I’m sure there are strong opinions on this chowder topic so I’ll just describe it hearty, summery, perfect for warm weather or cool. I only wish that I’d made twice the amount, it went quickly! 🌽🌽🌽

.
Basic recipe, made some homemade corn stock with leftover corn cobs, some smoked chicken bones (leave them out to make it a veggie stock); lemon thyme, onions, bay + black peppercorns...while the corn stock simmered (an hour or two will do), sautéed some corn kernels in a touch of bacon fat + thyme (olive oil or butter is fine), puréed most of it with the stock, added back to the pot to combine with some leftover corn salad which had a touch of yogurt /mayo/lime juice/sriracha in the dressing (this recipe is very technical, hope you’re following along) + topped with diced peaches tomato + basil + bacon + flake salt. Moral of the story, this soup is flex, doctor it as you see fit xx
