  • Bah Humbug 10K - 35th out of 443 👍🏼

Wow, that was the muddiest race I’ve ever done (and I’ve done a far few cross country races!)🌲🍂

One lap around the track, 9.4K cross country and then another lap around the track 🙌🏻

I particularly loved the last lap around the track as I could just hear my foghorn of a dad shouting at me to catch the next guy ahead - it was a sweet chase and I managed it 👊🏼

To be fair, I started about 3/4 of the way at the back to the start so the first part of the race was weaving through the crowd

I really enjoyed today and managed to finish in 46:48!

Ill be heading back to Middleton next Sunday for some more cross country 🙌🏻

    Wow, that was the muddiest race I’ve ever done (and I’ve done a far few cross country races!)🌲🍂

    One lap around the track, 9.4K cross country and then another lap around the track 🙌🏻

Let's be honest, I'm not a front pack runner, and don't ever expect to be...I had so much fun out on the trails last night, slodging through the bogs and pushing up the hills. Having fun is all I ever intend to do. I genuinely had no idea I was towards the front. No there weren't only 3 women running before someone asks 🤣 there were 44! So I'm going to own my 3rd place spot 💁🏼‍♀️🎉 ps. Running in the dark on trails is so much fun! .

Absolutely loved yesterday's run - it was a little hard to navigate at the start as it was pretty congested but once that cleared up, I managed to up the pace and it felt good* throughout!

*as good as one can feel during a tempo run! First km was 5:57, last one was 5:02 and all five were pain free! 😃

Back to easy running for today's #longrun and this week's FIFTH run!!!! More on that tomorrow...👀

I have spent I don’t know how many thousands of hours working out over the course of my life. Up until a few years back my focus was on eating a set amount of calories per day of good ‘clean’ foods. I’m unsure as to how many social occasions I bailed on in order to avoid messing up my macros or going over on my calories.  A lot of young people seem to live under the impression that finding a partner boils down to having a solid six-pack or a huge salary, but do you know what the real driver is in making yourself attractive to others? .

I can tell you right now that hiding away in a gym and avoiding nights out with friends is definitely not the ticket to finding happiness, and that if you ever do find yourself in a relationship based purely on physical attraction, the likelihood of it going the distance is very slim. .
.
Why not instead get out there and live? If you are going to train then ensure that it enhances your life, rather than limits it. We’ve raced in the Peak District today and had a blast. We came back to flapjacks and a cheese toastie followed by a nice hot bath. And now we’re off to dinner, for food, drink and dessert. We don’t count calories, we eat what we like and when we work out- although it has purpose- it is not simply to look better. That just comes as a byproduct of fuelling well enough to really kick ass when we are in the gym or on the roads and trails. And so with that said...

  • ‪Nice morning at @oakhillparkrun . I went there to see my current fitness levels and wasn’t expecting much. I came back as first runner home in a time of 18:16. My speed will take time to come back but although I haven’t dont much speed training since I started training again I am pretty happy with my fitness level at the moment. Hard work starting soon for next season but at the moment its just about building the engine up. .

Did you do parkrun today and if so which one & how was it? .

Thanks to all the marshals and volunteers that helped out and took time out their morning to help. .

Most of my runs lately have been at an easy pace and that along with the strength/mobility workouts seems to be helping with my #injuryrecovery. Soooo pleased with the progress! 😃

  • Gut health is important 🏃🏽‍♂️⚡️👌🏽 After my run groups track session on Wednesday, two of my runners stopped me in the car park and immediately asked... “ Is that gel you use ok on the gut? Because I get bad cramps taking gels, I’ve taken loads of crap ones” 
I explained how I began using @kendalmintco gels and nutrition way before I was an ambassador. Before then, as far as I was concerned GU roctane were the number 1, all day long!!! I STILL rate them, BUT for ME, KMC just tick all them unseen boxes too 😍

Everyone reacts differently to different things.   • Hard week? Things on your mind? Winding yourself up? Troubling thoughts?.... sometimes just lacing up and getting out the door is what will help. 
Then again, it might not. But it WILL alleviate any shit you’re feeling and going through. If anything, you’ll have gained peace of mind to put yourself back in control. 
This simply is.... the beauty of running.

Second longest run I've done since the hamstring situation - 5 miles at Wednesday's club run. Had some discomfort in the hamstring and knee at the start of the run but all good by the end.

Been seeing so many beautiful pictures of sunrises and sunsets this week and I'm LOVING them! Just another thing to appreciate about winter running! 😍
