50 Kaló was probably the lightest pizza we’ve ever had 🧚🏼‍♀️ The dough texture is really soft and soooo light. It gets incredibly thin in the middle which makes it a perfect bed for a lake of mozzarella and tomato in the center. The crust isn’t the classic big “cornicione” in fact it’s not a cornicione at all but it’s still so soft you can enjoy it on its own dipped in oil. Flavour wise, while the dough doesn’t scream all the others were loud enough. Tomato sauce 🥫🍭 super duper sweet, maybe a tad too sweet. Buffalo mozzarella 🐂  sooooo good and the right amount too. And just like that, we left feeling like we could have done with another one 😂

  • 5 0 K A L Ò "Best pizzeria in Europe" is one of 50Kalòs many accolades, so it made sense to kick-start my official tour of London's Pizzeria's riiight here. 
50Kalò is the code term used amongst pizzaioli to describe a good dough. Bad Dough = Bad 🍕. Ciro Salvo hails from Naples and is the mastermind behind this pizzeria. 
Pizza: ⭐⭐⭐⭐🖖(4.5)
Go for the fried pizza as a starter. The tomato sauce is rich and flavoursome, and the dough is crunchy with the right balance of salt.The choice of pizza is endless here - from traditional to unconventional, you'll be overwhelmed. Great choice of ingredients hailing directly from 🇮🇹. The pizzas all have one thing in common - the dough is thin but not soggy (no 🍴 needed) easily digestible and you don't feel🤰after♥️. Watch out: toppings were a little scarse on the nduja pizza and it wasn't as spicy as we would have liked.

Service: ⭐⭐⭐ Speedy and recommended a fantastic malt beer to pair with my pizza. Overall quite attentive, although they forgot about us right when we were ready to order😭. Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pizzas are between 10 and 15 depending on what you go for and they are perfectly sized!

Atmosphere: ⭐⭐ The marble interior and black and white wallpaper doesn't exactly go with the wooden tables or the paper mats. Not to mention the 5 posed photos of Ciro staring at you as you eat your pizza 👀

  • @50kalolondon is not your average pizza place - it feels proper and all grown up (so much marble!!), it also doesn’t open til 7pm so better remember that when arranging an early dinner. My memoir #8 is based around the most unexpected yet tasty selection of roasted veg that one can get on a pizza incl. endive - have you ever had one of those? It was chewy but also crunchy, packed with flavour yet lacking something. A mixture of vinegar, salt and pepper did work wonders but not enough to make me want to come back for more (although the dough was just right).
Pizza: 50 Kalò (Marinara con scarole)
Memory: Balsamic vinegar to the rescue
Second date: Not enough flavoursome spark there
