  • Apparently my theme this week is stripes (subtle today) and matching socks to my tops 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, Reginald wanted to make an appearance!
.
Turtleneck // Madewell
Shirt // old AA
Jacket // secondhand Eileen Fisher (via local consignment shop)
Pants // Everlane
*I don’t work with/for any brands and am not encouraging you to buy any of these items. Always feel free to DM me about fit/size/longevity if you want.

  • One term that I’m really trying to take out of my vocabulary is “flattering”.
.
Comfortable cotton elastic waist band pants with pockets have been on my “want list” for a long time. This is one item I’d been saving up for because I knew I wanted to purchase from a more ethical/sustainable brand (I don’t have a ton of these brands in my wardrobe at the moment).
.
I finally found a pair that I liked the look of, and they were having a 30% off sale over the holiday weekend so I went for it! Looking back on it, I should have done some more research on this brand but tbh I was half thinking with my wallet and half influenced by someone on ig 😅 I don’t claim to be perfect. (This brand is not very size inclusive and is maybe a bit falling into white saviorism but I couldn’t find a ton about them online)
.
But - These pants are the softest and most comfortable ever and fit well in length/width. I totally love them and think that these are great for both work and casual. But I looked in the mirror with them on and was like “wow these are not very flattering”. I’m so much more used to fitted pants that tuck my hips/belly in. But on second thought - who really cares if these pants make my hips look bigger. They make me feel happy when I wear them and as my partner put it “what’s wrong with having big hips”.
.
It’s so hard to unlearn what we’ve seen and been taught about bodies and how they should look in clothes. But by reminding myself that the word “flattering” is made up and that the goal is not to look “flattering” or smaller (my goal is to feel good and feel cute personally), really helped me look at these again and fall in love with them.

Honestly, this 30 pieces of clothing for 30 days is NO SWEAT. I’m halfway through my challenge and I haven’t repeated an outfit. There are things I haven’t even worn yet! 30 pieces is legit a world of options. I’m really learning how very little clothing I ACTUALLY need. .
.
.
A bonus of doing these challenges is that it’s really helped me home in on what the true gaps in my wardrobe are. I haven’t owned black ankle boots since I melted my Blundstones while trying to dry them by a campfire some 12 years ago (oops) and I decided that it was time to replace them. Check out my new boots! They’re waterproof and cozy, but not so insulated that I’ll suffer from sweaty feet all fall and spring. I’m looking forward to loving these for many seasons to come! .

  • A whirlwind of a week! It’s finals week which means I have assignments to finish up, exams to grade, and not to mention I’m seeing one of my all time fave musicians tonight - Angel Olsen - and then I’m flying down to Southern CA on Friday! Did anyone else feel like this last weekend was way too short? 🙃

  • Hi there.
.
This is me. Bringing back #ootds because I feel like I’ve finally gotten my life back together. 🙈😂 Six months of unemployment gets you in a weird hole, where you sit in the same place all day on your laptop and wonder if you will ever do anything with your life. (Spoiler: you are not defined by what you do but by who you are.)
.
Well, here I am on the other side. Excited for 2020...like REALLY excited. 🤗

  • Trying to get more into layering with long sleeves instead of just defaulting to a sweater! (Heavily inspired by @auroarie and @bethjoyrog) I’ve paired this forest green turtleneck with a shirt I bought from a local maker who paints on thrifted clothing!
.
Also! I have had my eyes on these corduroy pants from Everlane since they were released a while back. I never fully felt compelled to take a chance on them, but I found them posted secondhand in my size (thanks @calexan4 ☺️) and I’m loving them so far! Such an interesting texture to play around with.

  • I wanted to join in w the folks doing #myproudestmake (started by @cocowawacrafts) of this year! I sorta jumped right into this @sugardale #lencoveralls pattern maybe a bit prematurely (I like to wing it) and it was my first time doing a collar, pants, pockets, and binding (and probably more things). It certainly isn’t perfect and I made mistakes along the way (I sewed one of my pockets toward the back half instead of the front half 😂) but a fun thing about sewing is that a lot of mistakes are fixable, and seams can be redone (shout to my seam ripper, aka my best friend).
.
But overall I love this freakin jumpsuit and I think it’s so flattering, functional, and comfortable. I want to get another one going soon but my time is so limited right now. Also it was great for my Us costume (posted late October if you wanna see!)
.
Made a few minor adjustments like leaving out the front pleats and make the sleeves a bit bigger/mid length. Feel free to ask any questions down below!
.
And as an extra treat and to help illuminate that not all sewing projects end up perfect, I will share my most frustrating piece I’ve made/tried to make later this week.

  • I had some really interesting discussions spark from my reposting of @pantsfessional post on Everlane. I think it’s healthy to critique a brand that you buy from or have bought from in the past. It worries me a bit to see people who are very strongly pro- any brand.
.
I worked in marketing research for a few years and virtually every company wants to have customers who are absolutely loyal. That is like, the best kind of customer to have for a brand whether or not they are slow fashion. And in fact, I think it’s easier for people to become such a loyal customer when it’s a sustainable fashion brand because we think it’s “good” or “cool”. Which is why I wanted to bring this up - brands can change. Their practices and sourcing changes as they grow. Growth is different for every brand, and it’s okay and helpful to critique them on this. Often times if the quality is worsening or some practice is falling short, this is because they are trying to rapidly grow in an unsustainable way (and honestly following suit of a lot of fast fashion brands that came before them).
.
All this to say, I’d challenge you (and myself) to reflect on the brands we purchase from and keep the transparency going. These brands want us to be loyal to them and to not discuss their faults among other potential customers. I will still probably buy pants from Everlane because they work for me, but working in the marketing industry has really turned me off from being a super loyal customer to any brand. And is yet another reason why I don’t do affiliate/sponsorship things.
.
Apologies for the dark photo, the PNW has like 8 hours of daylight rn 🧡

  • I’ve been very quietly doing a personal #30X30 challenge for the last week. 30 articles of clothing for 30 days. .
.
I’m going by the same rules as my 10X10: workout clothes and loungewear don’t count. I’m not including shoes or outerwear because I simply don’t want to and I get to make the rules. .
.
I built my capsule around a few pieces of clothing that I wanted to challenge myself to wear more often, namely: winter white jeans, a faux fur vest, a checked blazer, and my new ochre #peppermintwraptop. I selected the rest of the items based on what I thought might go with those pieces. I decided to stick with icy blues and warm browns and golds, with lots of black, white, and grey to tie them together. .
.
So here’s a roundup of my first week and a peek inside my closet for the next 23 days. No outfit photos from the weekend because #lazeh. .

  • At the end of my #30x30challenge, I thought I'd add some photos of how I styled three of the 30 items: the black jumper, the pinafore dress and the animal print top.

What I learned doing the challenge:
a) I could easily have gone another month using the same 30 items (well maybe not at Christmas!)
b) Having a more limited (capsule) wardrobe makes choosing outfits in the morning easier rather than harder
c) what I knew anyway, that accessories, coats and footwear can give a few key pieces a variety of looks because #everythinglooksbetterwithabag 😉

Pinafore dress very old @dorothyperkins
Jumper this season @dorothyperkins
Leopard print top last year @matalan

  • My #30x30challenge is over, though I didn't post yesterday as I didn't feel well...again! Though I panicked at the thought of #project333 from the first Sept until today I have worn 31 items, not including shoes and jackets.
I've been after a grey jumper for a while and found this top shop one in @crukshops for only £3 on Friday. The last time I wore this skirt was August and I wasn't sure I liked it. The material is more wintery, so I'm going to try and get some wear over the next few months.

  • My #30x30challenge is over, though I didn't post yesterday as I didn't feel well...again! Though I panicked at the thought of #project333 from the first Sept until today I have worn 31 items, not including shoes and jackets.

  • Day 30 ✅

30x30 November's fitness challenge ✅

I still remember the time that I was debating with myself whether I shall continue what I started last year or not.
Whether I would have time to make it. Whether I will have enough energy to even get out to follow my own advice.
As always I want to be truthful to myself with what I can or cannot deliver.
Here we are the 30th of November 2019 and I can't believe that today was the last day of the second year in the row of my very own challenge that it wasn't easy but not difficult either.
A challenge that it took me out of my comfort zone.
A challenge that required time, energy, motivation and perseverance.
A challenge that impacted my lifestyle and created healthy habits.
A challenge that is for mind and body equally that so many people reject the idea that they need help or it's too easy, too silly, too simple, whatever other excuses they have.
It's not my business to change anyone if they don't want to. My mission is to raise awareness of our health. However, health is not just about the physical body. Our mind, soul and body are interconnected and have a tremendous impact on each other.

If you are too shy and you want to grow your confidence but you need a private accountability in business or in personal life, contact me and you will get a free half an hour first consultation to identify the area you need to grow and develop. 🙏 Thank you to Emilia Sirbu who supports me all the way not just in this challenge but in many other challenges, I had so far. ❤ 🙏 Thank you to each and every one of you who have done the challenge with me or secretly. 😊 🔎 R E M E M B E R 🙏 Get out there for fresh air, a gym session or simply, block half an hour per day to do a simple workout in your comfort room even.

Half an hour on the long run will make a massive service to your body and mind, warranted.

You are a CHAMPION no matter what 🏆 ❤ I'm sending you my love, to all of you ❤

L 🌹

P. S. Finally today I've that the corect way but there is still work to be done on my balance. 😊

  • Hope everyone is takin care of themselves this weekend 🧡 so many ads and sales in my feed can be tempting (and I have shopped a few places) but I’m trying to remember I don’t have to keep up with folks and I like my closet small.

  • That's a wrap! Day 30 of the @caprarunning 30x30 challenge completed 🎉 The challenge was to run a minimum of 30 minutes each of the 30 days in month of November.
°
I ran a total of 19.5hrs over a distance of 175km and had 27/30 runs with my baby in tow 💪
°
The main takeaway I got from this challenge is that no matter how busy my life gets or whether I have a cold (or a hangover), I can always find/make time for at least 30 minutes of physical fitness in my day.

  • That was what I packed for two weeks in Tbilisi and Moscow. Later some of the pieces were in my 10x10, now they are in the 30x30 challenge.
⠀⠀
I really feel like I’m making a good use of my clothes this time! So I’m kinda doing a Slow Fashion Summer, although I bought a new pair of linen pants, and thrifted jeans and a silk shirt 😛
⠀⠀
Can’t believe I used to add between 5-10 new garments to my wardrobe every season!! And I can’t believe so many people still do so.

  • HOW TO MAKE YOUR CLOTHES LAST LONGER
🧵
As some of you know, I’m doing a challenge where I’m wearing this dress for 30 days straight.
👗
With this follow some questions from you, surely.
🧺
YES, I’m allowed to wash it.
Obviously.
But despite of that I will still try to wash it as little as possible.
🚿
Why?
🚰
Well, partially for the environment because excessive laundry isn’t good for anyone except laundry detergent companies and clothing companies too..
🧼
But also because washing your clothes puts stress on the fabrics and make them lose shape, pill or just wear out faster.

In this challenge I’m learning a few things and one of them is how to take care of my clothes to make them look new and fresh for as long as possible.

You’d be surprised to how many things we can do - or avoid doing, to better treat or clothes.

I wrote an article/guide on this over at our blog at @goclimateneutral
Link in bio or go straight to GoClimateNeutral.org/blog/ to find more of my articles

DO YOU THINK you wash your clothes too often?

  • Needless to say I’m really feeling this hat on its second summer. Finally also wore this Asawa linen belt! I’ve had it since the belts launched but I’ve been useless at styling my outfits with it because wide belts are kind of new to me and it takes me a long time to introduce a new concept to my wardrobe. I like how cozy it feels though, it’s like somebody giving you a big hug! And it does do wonders to waist definition in a flowy outfit like this.

ES pieces are moss silk Andys (M-R, I’m 5’4”), navy silk Georgia (OS) and navy linen Asawa (OS).

  • Nothing explains my views on fast fashion more than this quote. Somehow we think that as soon as we buy a fast fashion item (either in store or second hand) that it automatically makes it disposable. I have “fast fashion” items in my wardrobe that I’ve had for almost half a decade and they’re still going strong.
.
And yes, I will always advocate for a transparent supply chain, circular economy, better work conditions + wages, and all that good stuff that very much tints the fashion industry. But if we’re going to be conscious consumers let's not consume above our means…even if that consumption is labeled as “slow” or “conscious” or “sustainable.” We’re just using labels to justify our consumption.
.
That’s why I love accounts like @notbuyingnew (sorry for tagging you out of the blue!) as it inspires me to see people making do with what they have and making #rewear the norm. And that’s beyond amazing.
