  • I’m traveling for work again, in Denver this time. I’m still trying to get in 10,000 steps each day so I try to do it when I have breaks. I work really long days when I’m traveling and I’m usually surrounded by people, so taking setting a timer for 15 minutes and just walking around wherever I’m at and then turning back once the alarm goes off gives me the solo time I need (#introvert) and a chance to keep up on my 10,000 steps. #selfcare #10ksteps #mentalhealth #anxiety

  • Well for most of the afternoon did not think I would be making this update from home but #GWR managed to get a train through the floods. A rest day on the run plan, tomorrow is the long run, so no run today but a lot of steps in London based meetings with #10ksteps well made, all rings closed on the #applewatch, both stretch goals of over 1000 active calories and 60 minutes exercise achieved. Overall a #fitto50 day of okness.

  • Not a good day for me. I've had a migraine all week and my hips and knees are suffering from me trying to amp up my work outs. I see my Dr on Friday and hopefully we can figure it what's going on, she refuses to accept I have arthritis bc I'm too young. But we shall see. I'm in bed, I need sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for me, but I'm feeling old.... #steps #goals #10ksteps #fitness #fit #weightlossjourney #gettinghealthy #healthyliving #restday

  • A long and odd day. Started early and remained intense in terms of constant work from 5am-through till six, barely any steps achieved and those were mainly to get coffee in or out of my system. Short run, then more work from 6.30-8.30pm. Then to destress and relax another short run. #nikerunclub @coachbennett and #headspace @andypuddicombe  got me to my targets with #spotify #blackcrowes helping me find a ‘90s rock based pace. #10ksteps completed, this weeks #NRC15k challenge made at a recovery pace. Stretch goals of an hours exercise and 1000 active calories achieved if just, but just is an unjust word, it was an achievement for me. I’ll take the #smallwins. Maybe that part of me is now a #runner. All the rings closed on the #applewatch so heading for another good week. Tomorrow on my #niketraining app is a rest day so with it being a work trip to London that means no run but plenty of walking opportunities available to make those goals. Also though short made a part of the run at under a 4 minute pace #fartlek goal achieved and results include #fatsweatybloke photo op. I'm writing to you from Las Vegas today. 
I'm at a writers' conference in a hotel that's almost big enough to be a mall. It even has it's own movie theater AND a bowling alley.

The last time I was here I only saw the sunlight through the ceiling of this atrium for a whole week, because someone thought keeping everything under one roof was just the best idea. The best.

Joke's on them, though. I'm getting tons of steps because this place is so big and I'm taking the long way around all the time.

Today I even got some new friends to join me for lunch down the street. Some acted like I was crazy, but they went anyway.

I love walking, but I didn't always love it. It's an acquired taste, but unlike liver, almost everyone can acquire this one.

At this event I think I'm one of the few who sees walking as a benefit. I guess I've got work to do on my writer friends. Baby steps, right? Let's see what happens at dinner time 😉

  • The majority of my clients are office workers. So they're confined to their desks 8-9 hours a day, not to mention the time spent commuting. That's a whole lotta time just sitting around not moving. Which can negatively impact your energy, posture, and the amount of calories you burn throughout the day. If you struggle to get your steps in, these are some great tips to make it easier.

DID YOU KNOW?! the average American only walks 3,500 steps/day! If you want to speed up your fat loss, change your body forever and destress, my biggest advice: START WALKING MORE!!

Lots of my online clients start working with me & only get 3-5k a day. Instead of progressing them to 10k/day overnight, I ask them to add 1,000 to their daily average. Then, week by week, we slowly increase!
⁣⁣⠀
Daily movement is THE MOST UNDERESTIMATED factor in fat loss and changes in physique. I currently walk 15-20k and do no cardio. Life is great when I don’t hafta get on a dreadmill.

🏃🏼‍♀️Having a desk job can make it hard to get your steps, so I’m sharing some tips for increasing your steps even if you’re chained to your desk for 8 hours.
⁣⁣⠀
1] start your day with a walk.. do this for you body & your mind
2] pick a walking buddy.. it'll add enjoyment & connection
3] take the stairs or a longer route.. every step counts
4] having walking meetings / calls.. move as much as you can
5] set reminders to walk.. book these in your calendar like an appointment
6] post-lunch / post-dinner walk.. do this alone, w/ coworkers, roommates or family

🚶🏼‍♀️Walking has significantly increased my quality of life & I want to share this very simple strategy with you! Besides helping me lose fat, it has tons of other benefits:
⁣⁣⠀
👣builds a habit of movement, no matter what context you're in
👣blunts hunger, distracts from stress eating, aids in digestion
👣you can't really mess it up [if you find a way to mess up walking, lemme know k?]
👣low impact & anyone can do it
👣restorative & assists with training recovery
👣reduces stress - mentally & physically
👣strengthens heart and improves brain performance
👣preferably done outdoors (big mental boost)

I woke up this morning and let myself sleep in about an hour later than normal because my body just needed it🤗 My abs are also still sore from my killer arms & abs workout on Thursday, so def taking a well needed and deserved rest day today. I just feel that my bod needs it💕 It is all about listening to what your bod needs and wants loves!

I am going to walk to @starbuckscanada to get some steps in and move a little. I may go to the gym tonight and do some LISS if I feel up to it, but probably not. On my rest days, I still like to be “active” by trying to get at least 10k steps in.
