    Take a deep breath. .
You could try this exercise before you go to sleep, or when you have a moment to sit down. You can repeat it whenever you want, for example, feeding your baby or hanging the washing

This exercise helps turn the dial down on the sympathetic nervous system

Start by noticing your breathing
Is your breathing shallow or deep?
To breathe deeply begin with a complete exhale... Let every last drop of air pore out from your lungs... Just when you think you have emptied your lungs let out a little more air... It is like you are a balloon deflating... Pause for a moment and then let your lungs fill naturally. Your next breath should naturally be deeper. You can place your hands on your abdomen (if you’re doing this before going to bed or while lying down) with your middle fingers just touching and your thumbs sitting under your chest. When breathing deeply your abdomen will move and expand and your fingers will part with every in-breath. Keep breathing steadily and deeply. Noticing what it feels like to fill your lungs. Let your mind relax into the rhythm of steady, deep breaths. Let your body’s tension melt away with every out-breath. Deeply, in and out... Stay with your breathing as long as you need to... #sleepscienceguru
