  • There’s plenty to smile about. Some things I’ve noticed about myself - I smile when I see my loved ones and even strangers happy. I smile seeing kids playing sports outside or seeing parents coach their kids. I smile when a puppy is walking up the block from me. I smile when I see an elderly couple holding hands. I smile when Some Kind of Wonderful comes on my Spotify, I even dance too. I smile at memories. I smile at Chicago because sure it’s cold, but mannn is it beautiful. I’m really starting to believe that life’s about the little things. Find more of the things and people that make you and your heart smile.🤩

  • "Be ready for goodness, no matter how big or small. Don't waste time wondering if you deserve it or how long it will last. 1. You do and 2. Nothing is forever, especially this moment so BE in it. Receive every gift with gratitude - a smile from a stranger, five bucks you forgot about in your pocket, a new opportunity, whatever. You'll realize this: goodness is everywhere if you stay open to it."

Spoiler alert I DID have the best day ever at Hollywood Studios not just because I was at Disney(even though that was a great portion of it) but because I was in absolute love with my new shirt thanks to @delleadesigns designs I got an overwhelming amount of compliments on my new shirt from her shop!! If you haven’t already make sure to checkout this shirt along with her other super cute designs for shirts and cups! Make sure to use CODE: traveler10 at checkout!🤩

  • Hey instagram 💞Just dropping in to say hello👋🏼. Every now and then I come on here and share with you little tidbits of myself. In this picture, I am embracing my Pakistani heritage with a Western twist - wearing a Lehenga with a tank top I purchased from Winners🤣. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am a first-generation immigrant. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 12 years old. The adjustment into a new world with vastly different cultural and social norms was not easy, especially in the beginning. To add, my parents struggled to find a stable job, so we moved around a lot when I was a teen (I ended up going to 6 different high schools 🤯). More often than not, the experiences children of immigrant parents go through can leave them confused and questioning their identity. If you are feeling lost, I am here to tell you that you are not alone. This is very common. And it does get better. You slowly learn to embrace parts of both cultures that fit best with your individual identity. I think that is so beautiful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you or your parents first generation immigrants? If you are willing to share, I would love to know what your experiences/struggles with acculturation have been like. Love, Nawal♥️
