  • LIFEHACK! I learned a simple tool that’s been so useful.
.
I’ve started a “Big Takeaways” folder in my phone – any time I learn something new or am struck by a realization about myself, the way I’ve been living or the future I’m hoping to build, I quickly write it down; this way every epiphany doesn’t just pass like water through a sieve. Instead, you’re able to draw on these small wisdoms at a later date.
.
The list encompasses the big things and the (extremely) trivial. Realizing that because of my career, drive and an intense 1:30am morning wake up schedule over the last 7 years – I have some very real deferred maintenance that I have the opportunity to work on now.
.
Also, for example, beets really aren’t for me (I’ve given them enough chances, they’re just awful).
.
This idea comes from a former JSK Journalism Fellow who shared it at the beginning of this experience at Stanford.
.
Share with me below: what’s something you’ve recently discovered or re-affirmed about yourself? The last time you said “Oh, that’s interesting” or “I hadn’t thought about it like that before.” Big or small. Can’t wait to read and chat with you below 🤗
.
PS, check out my stories, just posted some no-makeup real talk ❤️

  • Hey instagram 💞Just dropping in to say hello👋🏼. Every now and then I come on here and share with you little tidbits of myself. In this picture, I am embracing my Pakistani heritage with a Western twist - wearing a Lehenga with a tank top I purchased from Winners🤣. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am a first-generation immigrant. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 12 years old. The adjustment into a new world with vastly different cultural and social norms was not easy, especially in the beginning. To add, my parents struggled to find a stable job, so we moved around a lot when I was a teen (I ended up going to 6 different high schools 🤯). More often than not, the experiences children of immigrant parents go through can leave them confused and questioning their identity. If you are feeling lost, I am here to tell you that you are not alone. This is very common. And it does get better. You slowly learn to embrace parts of both cultures that fit best with your individual identity. I think that is so beautiful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you or your parents first generation immigrants? If you are willing to share, I would love to know what your experiences/struggles with acculturation have been like. Love, Nawal♥️

  • One of the greatest teachings in life:
Before making a decision, pause, take a few deep breaths, connect to your source of patience, wisdom, and power within.
Now with clarity and confidence choose the action that will serve you and the greater community around you.
Remember, the tough times and storms happening in life don’t last forever, they will always pass.
A powerful affirmation: “This too shall pass. May I be at peace.” 💕

  • It’s been such a long day today. Didn’t do my cardio after my workout because I had orientation last minute and I’m so tired laying in bed trying to get the motivation to get up and do my cardio😣
But it’s not about motivation it’s about discipline.
